The Amazing Race Asia 2 – Episode 12
Weeee! What a nice episode!! Marc & Rovilson are back at number 1 and the moms were finally eliminated. Team Philippines got pole position followed by the Singaporeans then the Malaysian sisters. They’re only minutes away from each other so it’s gonna be an exciting finish.
Onto the Race!
At the start of the race, Adrian and Collin were about two and a half hour ahead of Marc & Rovilson. Fortunately, the first task is to travel to Cape Town, South Africa so the rest of the teams were able to catch up at the airport. Yesss!!!
Anne & Dianne took a risk by separating themselves from the other teams. They chose to fly to London and from there, board a connecting flight to Cape Town which will arrive at 7:15 AM.
The other teams however, boarded a flight to Frankfurt. Then in Frankfurt, they were able to find a direct flight to Cape Town that will arrive at 5 AM effectively putting the moms in last place.
Upon landing in Cape Town, teams must make their way to Signal Hill. Fortunately for the moms, Signal Hill opens at 6:30 AM.
Push-to-start cars
In Signal Hill, teams must drive a car featuring push-to-start buttons instead of inserting keys in the ignition. They must drive to the summit where there are many clue boxes around but must find the only one with the clue to the next task.
Marc & Rovilson were the only one who didn’t have any problem with their car. Adrian & Collin spent around 15 minutes figuring how to start the car before finally approaching a local for help. Marc & Rovilson found the next clue first which is a roadblock followed closely by Pam & Van.
Formula 1 Roadblock
On the next task, teams must go to a motor racing circuit and a member will have to drive an open wheel race car around the track for 8 laps. On the 4th lap, they have to enter a pit stop but if they reach the stop in more than 7 minutes, they must wait for 5 minutes before continuing.
Marc & Rovilson kinda got lost going there so Pam & Van arrived at the track first. Fortunately, Vanessa drove slowly at first and by the time she reached the 2nd lap Marc & Rovilson finally arrived followed by Adrian & Collin.
At around this point, Anne & Dianne just got to their car and like the Singaporeans, they don’t know how to operate it and even consulted the manual before asking a local for help.
Because of Vanessa’s slow driving, she incurred the 5-minute penalty at the pit stop allowing Marc to catch up. Congrats to Marc for being the only one to arrive at the pit stop in less than 7 minutes.
Vanessa stepped on the gas after the fourth lap and finished the race still ahead of Marc onto the next task.
Charity work
Teams must then drive to an orphanage and paint the exterior wall of a small house. They also get to hand out a check donation to the people managing the place.
Pam & Van got lost going there so Marc & Rovilson were able to take the lead again. They’re still goofing around with the task, playing tic-tac-toe on the wall with their paint rollers. After a short while, Adrian & Collin reached the site then after a few minutes, Pam & Van finally arrived just as Marc & Rovilson were leaving the place.
Safari time
Teams must drive to a private game reserve park located hours from the city. In the animal park, teams must enter a cheetah enclosure and make their way to the clue box and avoid any sudden movements.
“How do you outrun a cheetah? Run faster than your friend.” – Rovilson
After leaving the orphanage, Marc & Rovilson went the wrong way but fortunately they built a huge lead from the others that it didn’t matter that much. They still arrived at the game reserve first and got their next clue.
Pam & Vanessa got lost on their way again and fell a bit behind Adrian & Collin.
Detour
On the next task, teams must choose between preparing 100 kg. worth of food for the elephants or transport a whole bunch of elephant poop outside their stable using a couple of tiny shovels and a floor brush.
Marc & Rovilson chose the shovel-the-poop task and finished it without any trouble ‘cept for the tiny shovels. Adrian & Collin finally arrived as Team Philippines were about to finish.
Pit Stop and the Final Three
Teams must then ride a safari jeep for about 2 hours on their way to the pit stop situated atop the game reserve passing wild animals along the way.
As Marc & Rovilson made their way to the pit stop, they saw Pam & Van just arriving to do the poop-shoveling task. They weren’t satisfied with the scooping capability of the shovels so they used their hands instead. Alright!! Kudos to girls who don’t mind getting their hands dirty.
Finally, Marc & Rovilson arrived at the pit stop first and won a trip back to South Africa after the race including the safari and other activities with food and accommodations. Way to goooo!!!!!
Adrian & Collin arrived maybe around 15 minutes after the Pinoys followed by Pam and Van. The moms are still behind and they knew that this would be the last leg for them. Good job for making this far I might say. Too bad your risk didn’t pay off.
Tune in next week for the final leg of the race. I think it would consist of 2 episodes but I’m not sure though.
Anyway, Go Team Philippines!!!!!!!!!
