How to choose a good Web Hosting Provider

If you already have a website but don’t know where to put it up then it’s critical that you do some research on web hosting companies first. Here’s a quick guide on what to consider before you sign up.

  1. Data transfer or bandwidth allocation. If your site is heavy with graphics or you’re expecting a lot of visitors per month, it is good to aim for providers that can give you at least 2000 MB data transfers monthly.
  2. Reliability. What good is a website if it’s often down due to unreliable web hosting company? Look for providers that have backup servers for their backup servers. Or e-mail their customers for reference.
  3. Flexible Pricing Schemes. If you’re only putting up a personal website, most often, you don’t need the 1GB of disk space. Look for providers that can offer you the best price for the service that you need and won’t tie you up for a long period.
  4. Technical Support. For those who are new to putting up their own website, a friendly and 24/7 technical support is a must to help you set up your site and troubleshoot problems. Look for those with e-mail, chat and phone support.
  5. Added Features. You don’t want to scrounge up the net to look for a guestbook code or a basic shopping cart. Your hosting provider should have those included in the package and ready for you to use.

So what’s the best web hosting company out there? I don’t know but head to Kaushal Seth’s (maker of free wordpress and blogger templates) site to find out.
