How to know the latest movie rips
Have you ever tried buying a pirated movie and the vendor tells you that the copy is decent? But by the time you plug it into your player you were disappointed with the quality of the movie?
Or do you wanna know if the movie that you’ve been waiting for is already available in torrents or in your favorite DVD vendor?
If you answer “yes” to one or both, then you might wanna check out www.vcdquality.com.
The site lists recent movie rips and its quality as well as some other stuff. It does not tell you where to download the movies. That is illegal.
Here’s a screenshot of the site.

The first column tells you the quality of the rip. Anything with DVD on it means the quality is good. Avoid CAM or TELESYNC. For example, avoid Vantage Point in the mean time since the rip is of CAM type.
The second column is the title of the movie. Interesting titles out there having good quality including There Will Be Blood and Rambo IV. There’s also a Dr. Doolittle 3 available already.
If you click the JPG button, you’d get a sample screenshot of the movie to check its quality.
NFO button just tells you additional info on the rip. You may disregard this.
IMDB button will redirect you to the IMDB (movie database) entry of the movie.
The next column tells you how many CD’s the rip is. One CD is around 700MB so if you’re gonna download a movie, look for those with only 1 CD. There Will Be Blood consumes 2 CD’s maybe because of its lengthy running time.
The next column with the weird names tells you what group ripped the movie. Sometimes different groups would be ripping the same movie. If you’re going to download a movie, look for the group name in the filename to distinguish the rips.
Last column is the rating people from the site’s forum gives to the movie rip. Video/Audio/Story so you might wanna consider that before buying or downloading a ripped movie.
Happy hunting! Just don’t get caught.

Mr. Calvin,
My name is Christiana San Juan, I am posting in behalf of the Philippine Optical Media Board (OMB). I hope you are aware that what you are posting here in your blog is a direct violation of Republic Act No. 9239 or also known as the “Optical Media Act of 2003.” This law was enacted in accord with the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines to ensure the protection and promotion of intellectual property rights. This act seeks to regulate optical media by imposing stern regulations in the licensing, copying and distribution of optical media such as DVD’s, CD’s, VCD’s, DVD-ROMS, CD ROMS, CD recordables and rewritables.
Although you are not directly distributing pirated copies, You are exemplifying promotion of piracy to the public. I am part of a team that OMB has commissioned to scan Philippine based “Blogs” or “Web journals” that promotes this kinds of acts in the Internet.
This is a stern warning, Please take this post down.
Thank You,
Ms. Christiana San Juan
Deputy Secretary, Optical Media Board
