August Rush, a movie review
Wow!! We just finished watching the movie August Rush and I can say that I really enjoyed it. It is one of those movie that can captivate you from start to finish.
There are many twists and characters in the story to write a sufficient review without giving away too much spoilers. In a nutshell, it’s an urban fairytale about the journey of a musically gifted orphaned boy, August Rush (played by Freddie Highmore of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) who is trying to locate his parents through music.
“Do you like music?” – Jamia
“More than food.” - August
You see, he was conceived by accident when her mom, a rising cellist named Lyla played by Keri Russel, got in love one night to Louis, a rock band vocalist/guitarist played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Afterwards, they were separated by their families and Louis didn’t know that he had a kid.
When Lyla gave birth, her father gave away her son to the orphanage without her knowledge to save her career. 11 years later when her father is dying, he finally told her that she has a son.
You have to watch the rest on how August tried to find her mom. His mom trying to find him while his dad is trying to locate his mom. All of these are beautifully intertwined with music as the catalyst.
Yes it’s a bit far fetch but don’t wear your reality hat when watching this film or you won’t enjoy it. The casts are superb and the musical score is outstanding.
Verdict: Go watch it with your friends. Then watch it again with your family. 5 stars out of 5.
