Pepper Lunch Philippines Experience
My wife and I seldom go out on a date or watch a movie anymore so we decided to splurge on lunch today. Since we always wanted to try Pepper Lunch here in the Philippines but always gets put off because our friends kept postponing, we decided to just go by ourselves.
We arrived at the PowerPlant Mall at around 12:20 PM and headed straight to Pepper Lunch. We were surprised that it’s not that crowded (maybe because more people are saving these days), but there is a line though albeit a short one. While waiting, you get to watch a demo on how to prepare your meal in the TV screen affixed to the window. A staff will also give you a table number so you would have a guaranteed seat when you order your food.
After waiting for a few minutes, we get to order our food. My wife chose #6 which is the Hitokuri Cut Steak and I ordered #13 which is the Hamburger and Pork Combo. We chose to include rice and drinks on our meal. Our total bill… P660. We then went to our designated table and wait for our food.
After a few minutes, our food arrived. The server cheerfully gave us instructions on how to prepare our food and what sauce to use. She said that you can’t go wrong with the 2 choice of sauce but the honey brown sauce taste good on meat and the garlic soy sauce on the veggies.
Here’s a before and after shot of my Hamburger and Pork combo meal.

A problem I encountered here was the lack of space on my plate. The pork is cut sukiyaki style (thin as bacon) and there are many folds so I have to separate them quickly before the heat from my plate dissipates. Since there’s not much enough space after I unfolded the strips of pork, I wasn’t able to cook some of them the way I like (a bit burnt on the edges).
Anyway, even if some of the pork were cooked rare, the special butter and the honey brown sauce made them taste real good. The burger was thick and tasted just like any quality burgers. The serving size was just right for me. Very filling but not to the point of being bloated.
So how was my experience overall? The place is nice, clean and spacious. The staff are very friendly. The food… well it’s ok and I can say that the price I paid was worth it. I didn’t get the Cooking Master Boy feeling where dragons and koi would appear with bursts of fireworks and rainbows like I did when I ate their Shimofuri Steak when we were at Singapore though.

I like their burger. The one with egg. But you don’t eat egg…
Grabe ang mahal naman niyan! P330 each person?? That’s like RMB 60. That’s like a good lunch set in a fancy restaurant already. Lunch set includes appetizer, main course and dessert..
calvin: haha oo kaya nga splurge eh. gusto lang namin talaga ma-try dito yung resto. i guess yun ang mahirap sa pepper lunch, some people will only try it once just for the experience.
my experience with Pepper Lunch was nice too. when I got out of the resto, I was smelling like the steak I ate. it was a fun experience because you can get to play with your food by mixing it up and dressing it up. but I’d like to try the other Pepper Lunch in other countries too. for comparison lang.
calvin: yup, kaya nagbaon ako ng shirt that day. i don’t know kung anong meal yung may imported na meat eh. feeling ko yung nakain namin local meat lang.
“…our friends kept postponing,… ” Kami yun! hahaha! Sorry talaga Calv. Magdadala din ako extra shirt pag pumunta kami dun. Amoy Aling Lucing’s.
calvin: hahaha. si mik yun. hehehe. tama baon kayo extra shirt.
