How long it took for Google to crawl my new domain
I recently bought my own domain name (calvinshub.com) more than a week ago. I thought that staying with WordPress.com will not greatly affect my blog juice since WordPress will simply redirect all visitors to my new domain. How wrong I was.
The day after I switched to my new domain, Google stopped indexing my site. This means I can’t write much about current events since it won’t appear in Google’s search results. Only my regular visitors (thank you guys) and random people who happen to stumble on my blog will get to read my posts. It was bad timing on my part cause there were lots of Olympic news that I wanted to share.
So how long till Google went back to indexing my site? It took about 9 days before Google updated its cache. To check when Google last visited you, simply do a Google search query using “cache:[your url]“. I don’t know if adding a Google Sitemap or updating my internal links helped but I was really trying everything I could think of.
It seems like I’m starting all over again till Google will start crawling my site daily and my page rank goes back to 3. My daily hits dwindled down to just above 200 now thanks to my travel guides and Fireworks tutorials and of course to you my regular visitors.
Oh well, aside from posting more interesting content, I’d better start looking for a new host now before this blog grows any bigger and harder to move. What good, cheap hosting site do you suggest?

I am new to Blogging and i just got my domain name. I hope Google crawl my Blog but as of now i do not expect anything. I need to work hard and i am glad to hear that Google still crawl your website.

How long have you been blogging and how many average viewers do you have today versus when you started?
hmmm, been bloggin since late 2007 with wordpress and i was getting a lot of visitors then. when i moved out of wordpress, on september 2008 i was happy hitting 300 visitors a day. right now it’s up to 1,300 an average per day. It’s still not yet a lot but it’s steadily increasing although slowly.
