How to relieve burning sensation caused by chili peppers
Some time ago, my wife experienced a burning sensation on her hand when she handled chili peppers while preparing for our meal. She just washed it off with soap and water and let it be. However even after we finished our dinner, the burning sensation still won’t go away.
So how do you relieve or soothe the burning sensation on your skin that is caused by red chili peppers?
We searched Google for some tips and found people offering vegetable oil as a viable solution. After having a Mythbuster moment, my wife poured some unused vegetable oil in a bowl and dipped her hands in it. After about 30 minutes, the burning sensation was gone. It’s plausible folks!
I tried searching Google on why it worked but can’t find a scientific explanation anywhere. Might have something to do with chemical reaction between “capsaicin” from peppers and the triglycerides in vegetable oil.
There may be some other solutions out there that we don’t know but vegetable oil really works! It’s up to you if you still want to reuse the oil for cooking though.
