Why I Enjoy Blogging

I really enjoy blogging. At first I thought it would be difficult to maintain a blog site but eventually, I found myself wanting to blog more and more to the point of having to buy my own domain and hosting. It’s some sort of stress relief for me to write something daily to share to my readers.

Here are some more benefits that I get from blogging:

  • Practice my English writing skills. I know it’s not much but blogging really helped me with my writing skills which is valuable if you’re dealing with a lot of  clients through e-mail. Totally a big plus for me.
  • Reference. The travel guides, cool links, gadgets, memorable experiences are all stored in my blog for easy reference. If I need to know when we did the whale shark watching thingy, I’ll just use my blog’s search feature. If I forgot how I removed the bar311 virus, I’ll just head to my tech blog and search from there. Pretty handy I might say.
  • Keeps me updated and educated. When I write about something interesting I’m not familiar with, it forces me to do some research. Blogging also keeps me on my toes for latest news and events especially technology related ones which I like.
  • Help out others. I like to help out others by putting guides here in my blog and it feels good if they find what they’re looking for here through search engines.
  • Attend media events and try out new gadgets. I occasionally write for Pinoy Tech Blog and as a perk, I get to be invited on tech-related media events which includes a first look or a hands-on experience of the latest gadgets.
  • Good food and freebies. Hehehe, related to the media launch, there’s always food and freebies. Best place for a press launch is the Renaissance Hotel and Edsa Shangri-la Hotel. The food is absolutely great! I have yet to win a laptop or an LCD monitor from the raffles though.
  • Friends. I made a lot of great friends online through blogging which is great. We learn a lot from each other especially on how to make money from blogging. Hehehe.
  • Money. Lastly, there’s also a small amount of money involved. Yeah, I’m not a professional blogger but I do earn some spare change to buy things that I want. I’m proud to say that I’ve earned enough from blogging to buy me a netbook. Don’t know if I’ll push through with it. Maybe I’ll just use it to buy my wife a Christmas present. :(

Hmmm, that’s a lot of reasons that should entice you to blog. I just hope that I don’t get burned out writing for my site. I don’t think I will, not in the foreseeable future at least. Oh yeah, I get to connect to my relatives and friends who are far from me through this blog. At least they’re updated on what’s going on here.

So what about you? Why do you love blogging? Write a post and share the link in the comments section.

This is really true. But despite our reasons for blogging, some people could not get the hang of it. They are not just cut to be like us, bloggers he he he. Since I started earning from blogging I could not help but try to convince people to blog too so that they will earn money too. But no one except my wife and one of my female cousins believed in what I say about blogging.

calvin: yeah, sad to say it’s not for everyone. most importantly, don’t be discouraged if wala masyadong traffic blog mo. just build up quality and interesting content and be patient.

i really enjoyed your post. i do wish that i can get good food and freebies as well, but being in the province must be to my disadvantage.

calvin: aww thanks mys. don’t worry, baka may advantage rin being in the province. baka mahakot mo lahat ng internet users sa province mo as readers to your blog. hehehe. :)

If I had not discovered ways to monetize a blog, then I’d probably not ventured into blogging.

Eventually I realized there is more to blogging than just earning money – friendship.

calvin: yeah, kahit online mo lang nakikita magiging good friends pa rin.

I don’t know if I would get to meet some bloggers, kahit taga Baguio, di ko na rin ma-meet – they got out of the country na.

calvin: attend ka yung mga blogger’s convention. Wordcamp lang alam ko eh for WordPress users. Kelangan mo nga lang bumaba sa Manila.

  7. Gem says:

I always hear about the Wordcamp meetings. Nangyari ata ito months before.

Most Blogger/Blogspot users are out of the country hehehe.

If ever there will be one, willing naman ako bumaba ng Manila, as long as I happen to have some funds for it.
