Are air purifiers really effective?
We always thought of getting an air purifier for our bedroom since my wife often experience severe sneezing in the mornings. Our room also does not have any real windows (we live in a bunker j/k) so air cannot circulate properly. Sometimes when we get home from work, we can smell stale air inside the room.
So we checked out some air purifiers in malls and the cheapest one we saw (Bionaire) was about Php4,100. It has a hideous design and not compact enough for our taste. The others are just too big for our bedroom.
Time to go online. I stumbled upon Heaven Fresh XJ2000 which is a compact and cool looking air purifier that I think is perfect for our bedroom. It doesn’t have a HEPA filter so I asked them if it’s still effective without it. Turns out the filter is usually needed if the room is smelly and smoky from cigarette or cooking food so we can do without them filters. It is also silent due to lack of fan but we can simply place it in front of our room fan. It’s quite cheap as well at only $59.
Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow when my sister comes home from the US. I’ll let you guys know our experience with it after a week or so of testing to see if it works for us.
Are you using air purifiers in your home? Is it effective for you?

Fresh pa ang air dito sa Baguio. Still pure.
Sa manila, yan, you definitely need that.
calvin: yeah dami kasing pine trees dyan eh. pero congested na daw yung area along session road?
Yes congested with traffic. Grabe. Pero di pa naman hahabol sa Manila. :p
I just heard… sabi lang sakin ng in-law ko, most polluted city daw ang baguio sa philippines… not sure pero i think i read some surveys nga din na ganun but that was years ago… i dont know now…
As for the air purifier, we just use an ionizer, Ionic Pro. Mini ionic air purifier pang room lang talga, $29 ata bili namin. We’ve been using it for mga 1 month na. Seems effective. Nawawala yung stale air tapos parang yung smell is clean air talaga.
calvin: ahh astig, so far so good pa naman sa amin. mas ok yung gising with the air ionizer.
@Crish
Most polluted ang baguio sa pinas? Hahaha.
I think it would be right na sabihin mas polluted ang Baguio than ever before.
Hi Gem! I think that was a couple of years ago… I also read it on the news. google it up. dahil daw ata sa mga jeep coz mas naglalabas ng usok pag nahihirapan umakyat since puro pataas dyan diba? but i heard QC na is the most polluted
yup halos wala na… very rare na lng if we’re out and malamig tlaga weather or season ng mga pollens
maybe you can ask your sis to find it at target ata or walmart meron. you can really notice nagiiba yung smell and minsan may maririnig kang slight noise pero di sya bothering and very rare pero i guess that’s when you’ll know na it’s really working.
