Circuit City filed for bankruptcy

circuitcityIf you still haven’t heard, Circuit City, one of the biggest consumer electronics chain in the US filed for a Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last Monday. It seems that Circuit City fell victim to the credit crunch going on right now. It will try to recover by restructuring but it will close 155 stores and shed 17 percent of its workforce in the process.

Kinda weird timing don’t you think with the holiday sale being just a couple of weeks away? But is this good news for the consumer? Think there will be a fire sale going on for all soon-to-close Circuit City outlets? Goody goody!

Be aware though that some closeout sale prices are actually higher than those listed on the website. So if you’re planning to a Circuit City store in the upcoming holiday, have a printout of prices from its website with you of the stuff that you want to buy.
