How much bandwidth is your blog consuming?
If your site is located on a paid hosting, I would like know how much bandwidth per month your site is consuming. Most hosting services offer 3-5GB for its basic plan (mine is only 3GB) and I thought that was enough for a small blog such as mine.
But last month, I almost reached my 3GB limit. Now, just halfway through the month I’m already consuming more than 2GB bandwidth with an average of almost 700 hits per day. Is that normal for such number of hits? I don’t have any hosted video or audio on my site, just text and small images.
I don’t know if there’s a way to optimize my site (already have super cache plugin installed) that would really make any difference or if the only option I have is to upgrade.
How about you? How much bandwidth is your site consuming and what’s your daily average hits (not visitors)? This is available through your cpanel account. Most hosting companies have a cpanel for their customers.
Please leave a comment if you can. If I could get an idea on what’s normal then I can make a better decision whether to fix or upgrade. I should’ve look for plans that offer unlimited bandwidth. Sigh.

A rough estimation… 1000 unique visitors = 1GB bandwidth.
Imagine your blog being featured on some popular sites somehow, with thousands of visitors visiting your site out of a sudden… your account could be suspended in no time.
Get a package that can handle at least 5x your normal requirement. Forget about unlimited bandwidth providers… quite often those companies are the lousiest one.
calvin: hmm 1GB in just one day? or is that for one month? i’m only averaging about 400 visitors per day. what’s wrong with unlimited bandwidth? everybody’s hogging the same server? thanks for the comment man! appreciate it!
Mine is hosted by blogger and it’s free so I am not actually looking at how much bandwidth I consume. Are you planning to move to another host? are you open to shared hosting? Meron ako alam, pinoy ito : http://www.adamoshost.com/
actually ako ang hahawak ng adminCP nyan kasi friend ko yung may ari.
calvin: naka-shared hosting na ako. nagiisip ako kung lilipat pa, hirap kasi maglipat eh. friend ko may-ari ng ploghost pero bumabagsak minsan nameserver.
I got the cheapest plan from ploghost which is plan 75 hehehe, that’s 75 MB webspace and 2,000 MB bandwidth.

Last month I used up 6+ GB with average of 500 hits but I’m on an unlimited bandwidth… curious tuloy ako what’s wrong with unlimited…
calvin: ahh so normal lang pala bandwidth na nakukuha ko. i think it’s because everybody wants to be on unlimited kaya mas maraming nagshashare ng server kaya baka mas prone to slowing down. hehe hula ko lang.
