Cholesterol Crystals, How to Treat

During an abdominal ultrasound performed on me a couple of weeks ago, doctors found some cholesterol crystals on my gall bladder. I don’t know how I got it since when I had my lipid profile done, they found that my cholesterol levels were normal (it’s low even).

Anyhow, cholesterol crystals if left untreated will transform into gallstones that would probably require surgery to remove. However, cholesterol crystals can be treated with medicine.

rowacholHere’s my dilemma on how to proceed…

Medicine: The treatment will last for three months and I had to take Rowachol thrice a day. I need 270 capsules for the three months and each costs Php30 totaling to Php8,100 for the whole treatment. Ouch! Our medicine allowance can only cover 2k.

intellicare Surgery: Or I could leave it alone and wait till they become gallstone. Then have surgery done on me which will incur minimal cost on my part since it will be covered by our health card. Hahaha.

Natural: I know there are natural ways to cleanse the gall bladder using Epsom salt but I don’t know if they’re gonna be effective for what I have. How about Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO)?

Help me decide, my health is in your hands. Hahaha.

my twin sisters-in-law had a gallbladder operation. The older one got 4 stones the size of a marble and the younger one had 20. would you believe it? there were 9 pistachio-sized and the rest were like granule-like. And when the stones reaches those size and quantity, chances are, it will require the doctors to take out the gallbladder itself like what happened to them. that’s uncomfortable daw since you will be prone to obesity. so, an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure right? take epsom salts na lang.

calvin: astig…if they take out my gallbladder i can get fat pala. :) tanong ko lang how old yung sisters-in-law mo.

surgery..better treat it early while you’re young than have the problem worsen later on since the crystals won’t really go away and just turn into stones

calvin: surgery is not required pag crystals pa lang.

Unfortunately, after three months of medication the cholesterol crystals were still there. Doctor had me stop rowachol for a bit and will wait for a month for another testing.
