I think Geoff and Tish won The Amazing Race Asia 3

A couple of months ago when TARA 3 was just starting, I made a prediction that Geoff and Tish will not do as well as our previous representatives, Marc and Rovilson.

I figured that their relationship is a bit volatile which will affect their performance as a team when pressure from the race is applied. With Geoff’s temper and his indecisiveness coupled with Tisha’s meekness makes them a weak team compared to others who have really good chemistry.

Boy I was wrong and I had to eat my words as they made it to the top 3 after last night’s episode. As expected, Geoff often lost his temper throughout the race but Tish seemed immune to it already. He may appear as the villain on TV but he can clearly make things happen for their team.

They already equaled Marc and Rovilson’s performance last season (in terms of how far into the race they achieved) and can even surpass them by winning the whole thing.

Their Competition

While Ida and Tania are more focused and can manage to keep their cool all the time even when facing elimination (sort of like Marc and Rovilson), when it comes to physical tasks the other two teams are more superior.

I think Sam and Vince are the direct competition of Geoff and Tish but we’ll have to see if their being behind at least 4 hours will play a major role in the finale.

Vince is as strong as Geoff but more skillful in sports. Sam, even though with his big arms prove to be only as strong as Tish (Sorry Sam!), but Tish can use her beauty and charm to gain some advantage if needed.

Looks like Geoff and Tish got plenty of tips from Marc and Rovilson who are their buddies. They seem to be the most prepared team in the race and I won’t be surprised if they keep track of their destinations which might be of use in the final leg.

Some other speculations

Here are a couple of speculations that I found in Monaco’s blog which I think gives us a good sign that Geoff and Tish won TARA 3.

There’s a local sports talk show in ANC called Hardball where Geoff and Tish appeared. One of the host, Jinno Rufino accidentally congratulated Tish but cut himself mid-sentence and had an “Oops” moment. He was reprimanded by his co-host (Boyet Sison I think) and said to Geoff that if something goes wrong, he knows who to blame.

Bill Velasco who is also one of the host added that something about a non-disclosure clause so the audience know that they were talking about none other than The Amazing Race. The show is taped so don’t bother looking for an online vid for it.

Another speculation is about the Amazing Race Asia 3 Launch Party. The first launch party was held in Malaysia and the Malaysian team won. Second TARA launch party was held in Singapore with Team Singapore winning.

The launch party of season 3 was held here in Fiamma Bar, Makati last September so does this mean Team Philippines won? Or is it just like the Sam and Vince’s Sony commercial speculation which was already a non-issue with Henry and Bernie having their own commercial as well?

We’ll just have to find out next week but I have a strong feeling that they will bring home the bacon. Go Team Philippines! I hope I didn’t cause you guys any trouble by posting this.

Hi Calvin. Dude, you really have to eat your words huh. I’m always convinced they won the race even before the premier. You are right on pointing out their weaknesses. Shifting from one task to another is really costly and they did it many times, not only in Oman but also in Hue. You have to add also their poor navigational skill. I think these could be a lesson to our future racers who are reading your blog. Get yourself out of nowhere, a place totally foreign , drive the car with your maps and ask from the locals.

But out of the three, I personally think our team deserves the most. They never saved by NEL and they never gave up on a task. Those things make them the most deserving.

calvin: hehe yeah. on paper they are really far from marc and rovilson’s wit, decision-making and chemistry to the point that they could be considered as underdogs so I agree with you that they deserved to win.

I waited for Bede to come home before I watched the episode so kahapon ko lang nakita. Grabe sometimes we get frustrated when Geoff and Tish get frustrated, especially during the carpet and counting challenge where they shuttled back and forth between the two. Saving grace was Geoff’s aaamazing skills on the pulley thing. Woot! He was like Spiderman! Haha.

I really hope they win, but at this point, I’m not really sure yet. They also had a Media Preview Party in S’pore, with the Malaysian and HK contestants but it might not be the official launch party like we had here in Manila.

I just hope Tisha will perform better than Rovilson on the final Roadblock.

calvin: i’m sure she would. they’re the most prepared team in the whole race.

i just watch the final episode and sadly, SAM and VINCE were the winners.

    2nd were GEOFF and TISH..

they werent so much far behind..

the last challenge was to carry a treasure chest with their prize money..

and the last were the girls..

    well, luck really changes..

    Filipino teams rock..

it’s not their (Marc and Rovilson) fault that they were last.

well, it was just too hard..

    GO PHILIPPINES!
