Protection for your iPod Touch
I’m really close to buying an iPod Touch now and I’ve been browsing the net looking for cases and other types of protection for it. Maybe after I get my iPod Touch I would go to a tiangge and get a housing for it. Hehehe. Just kidding.
So what type of protection should I get? Here are 5 options:

Made from military grade scratch-proof, patented film, the Invisible Shield can give your iPod Touch the protection it needs while keeping its compact and slim form as it is. They use this type of protection in helicopter blades!!
Cons: Applying it on your unit is not that easy and requires steady hands.

This type of protection will fit the iPod Touch snugly and is a popular choice even to iPhone users. The sleeve will also provide additional grip to your iPod Touch.
Cons: You need to buy a separate pouch if you want to avoid the screen from being scratched by something hard if you’re storing it in your pocket or bag.

If you don’t want the soft-sleeve, there’s also a hard one. This impact-resistant, hard-shell case from Griffin is the most stylish one I’ve seen. Other acrylic casing looks cheap making your iPod look like a toy.
Cons: How I wish it’s scratch-proof as well. A case with lots of scratches is not pleasing to the eye. It will also add bulk to your iPod Touch.

If a hard shell is not stylish for you, then maybe a leather sleeve will do the trick. This one from Belkin would fit the fashion-conscious person.
Cons: It won’t get any scratches on it but the fit may not be as snug as that of the hard shell or the silicon sleeve.

My sister has the leather folio from Belkin and I think it’s really good for the iPod touch. You won’t accidentally press the screen or damage it if you somehow sat on it.
Cons: Because of it’s thickness, it’s hard to press the “Home” button. Also, the fit isn’t as snug so an edge of the screen might get covered unless you adjust your iPod.
So which one should I get? I’m leaning towards the leather folio type. It offers the most protection and I don’t need to get a separate pouch just to protect the screen. It easily fits in my pocket and I don’t have to worry about dropping it.
Or I could first apply the invisible shield, then get the soft-sleeve then squeeze it in the leather folio. Hahaha.

Thank you for this information about cases and their alternatives. If anyone should have any questions about the invisibleSHIELD by ZAGG, please feel free to email me at evangelist@zagg.com
I haven’t even read the last part of your post, I already thought of suggesting to get the invisible shield plus the soft sleeve then an option would be to put it in the leather folio to keep it safe while you’re not using it. I like the soft gel sleeve kasi kung ginagamit mo para walang harang or anything. But of course, important yung invisible shield… so get everything! hahaha
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CALV!
calvin: hehe thanks mej!
happy birthday daw po, kaya makikigreet na rin. i vote for the invisible shield in the leather folio. looks cool and will keep it safe. but if only 1 choice, sa leather folio ako. neat tignan.
calvin: hehehe cool thanks! sige leather folio na talaga!
Hi Calvin,
Is the invisibleSHIELD by ZAGG available in the Philippines?
If so, where and how much?
Thanks!
Yup, just posted about it a few days ago. There’s a stall in Megamall that can apply invisible shield for you. P1500 to cover the whole device. People say though that it’s prone to discoloration. probably the effect of dirt or sweat on the plastic.
You might want to check out Bodyguardz as well. They’re available in PowerMac stores but you have to apply it on your own. Almost the same price din.
