De La Hoya failed to impress Pacquiao
First of all, I’m so happy that Manny Pacquiao won again, this time against Oscar De La Hoya. We Filipinos are proud of you Manny!

However, the fight turned out to be not as exciting as it was hyped. Nobody fell down. Don’t get me wrong, Manny was really amazing during the fight. Even though he gained a few pounds, he was still lightning quick on his feet and his punches. De La Hoya took a beating but eventually threw in the towel at the start of the 9th round.
Check out Pacquiao’s interview:
Prior to the fight, De La Hoya’s camp were pretty confident that they could take out Manny. Oscar said that he trained hard and was really excited to fight against Pacman. He didn’t look great before the match started though. Did you notice that he looked haggard or kinda tired? Just like Erik Morales on his 3rd match against Pacquiao. Was it because he had to lose a few pounds?
I thought De La Hoya’s size and reach advantage would give Manny a hard time but that wasn’t the case. Even at the first round he can quickly read De La Hoya’s moves and dart in and out of reach. Manny was even to squeeze in some powerful punches straight to De La Hoya’s face even at the beginning.
Manny clearly dominated the Golden Boy. It seems like Manny is fighting in fast forward while De La Hoya is in slow motion. He can’t do anything but to put up those gloves and defend. I think De La Hoya only dished out one punch for every 10 punches Manny threw.
The Golden Boy suffered a lot of hits to his face and clearly looked like a “Black and Blue” boy afterwards. Manny Pacquiao however didn’t even seem to have a scratch on his face. That’s how good he was evading De La Hoya’s punches (or is it because ODLH was too slow?).
Anyway even though De La Hoya lost pretty bad, I had to give it to him for soaking a lot of damage from Pacquiao and yet didn’t manage to fall down. Plus, he made oodles of money from the fight and can retire now!
For Pacquiao, he once again proved to the world that he’s the best pound-for-pound fighter right now! He just have to work on his English some more. Hehehe.
