Hong Kong Trip for Two Part 1: The Plan
My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary by going to Hong Kong for a 3 days 3 nights vacation. Our plan was to visit Hong Kong Disneyland and Macau then do a bit of Christmas shopping on our last day.

I’m writing about our travel plans here in case you want to have an idea on how to go about planning your own trip.
Where To Stay
Since we don’t plan on staying in our room too much (just to sleep), we chose a place that’s cheap but has its own bathroom and also clean. We also want to be near an MTR and near where the shopping spots are so we looked for a place in Mong Kok. Dragon Hostel fits the bill.
Dragon Hostel
Dragon Hostel was recommended to us by a bunch of friends who’ve been to Hong Kong weeks before us. It seems to be quite popular to tourist backpackers (there’s always a lot of foreigners in the reception area) as well because of its convenient location and its friendly owner, Stanley.
The place is located near a 7-11, a McDonalds, a KFC, the ladies market and also the Mong Kok Station. They have free WiFi in the reception area with 2 computers for the guests. They also have hot water for your cup noodles and a shared ref for your cold drinks.

Don't be fooled with the size, this is the whole room plus a small bathroom

You can brush your teeth, take a piss and shower at the same time in their small bathroom. Hehehe, at least there's a heater.
The outside of the place looks seedy but the rooms are clean although a bit small. We got an air-conditioned room for two with its own bathroom (with heater) for HKD280 per night. If you don’t mind sharing a bathroom with other guests, a room for two will cost you HKD220 per night.
Reserve in advance since you might find yourself without a room if you just walk in. You need to deposit a certain amount (USD34 for us) for your reservation and they also accept PayPal.
Getting to Dragon Hostel
We arrived at the HK International Airport at around 9:10 PM but before we head outside the airport, we loaded our Octopus Card with HKD150 each and took some HK maps.
Try to borrow an Octopus Card from your friends so you don’t have to deposit HKD50 for a card. But if you can’t, be sure to get the HKD50 refund when you return the card back at the airport.

Inside the CityFlyer bus with its luggage area
Outside the airport, we went to the bus terminal and waited for the A21 bus (fare is HKD33). The A21 CityFlyer bus is a two-storey bus that has its own space for luggages inside. Neat huh? In about 6 stops and after 40 minutes, you should get off near the Mong Kok station and just walk towards Dragon Hostel. Here’s their map.
We almost missed our stop since late in the evening, the driver doesn’t make all the stops. Ask the driver to drop you off near Mong Kok Station if you’re not familiar with the place.
Not much to do when we arrived at the hostel since most of the shops were already closing. We just had a late dinner at a nearby 24-hour McDonalds and called it a night.
I’ll be writing about our 2nd day and how our visit to Disneyland went on the next part.

Very nice. Hostels are often clean and comfy in other parts of the world. I don’t mind staying at a hostel ’cause you won’t always be staying in your room anyway. So it’s better to spend your money in either shopping or dining. I also stayed in a hostel when I went to Kuala Lumpur. Yun, talagang shared bathroom and bunk beds. Okay naman. It was fun.
calvin: yeah ok talaga hostel if you’re looking for a budget trip. tama ka, gastusin na lang ang money on the sightseeing, shopping or dining. next time puro hostel na lang siguro hehehe. wag lang magaya sa movie na Hostel.
inggit naman ako sa pasyal mo hehehe
