Happy Birthday Tia

I really don’t have a plan on how to celebrate it so I told her that we would just go out on a movie date which we haven’t done for a long time (last movie I think was Harry Potter 2 hehehe).

I woke up early this morning to go to the market to buy the ingredients that I would be cooking for our lunch with my sisters. I was planning on baked scallops but they don’t have those so I just settled for mussels instead.

And here’s our lunch…

chicken
Sweet Chili Chicken Wings

bakedmussel
Baked Mussels with fried garlic bits

clams
Halaan or Clam Soup

Tia: Hindi naman ikaw nagluto eh. Nag-computer ka lang buong umaga.

Actually, I just gave my sister some money and asked her to buy the ingredients for what I want for lunch. My sister also did all the cooking as her present to my wife and the food was really terrific!

As a service to my wife on her birthday, I laboriously cleaned our bathroom and bedroom.

Tia: Paano mo magagawa yun eh nasa computer ka lang buong umaga? Dumating si Virgie para maglinis.

Ok so all I did the whole morning was sit in front of the computer scheming on a birthday plan for the rest of the day.

Tia: Hindi kaya. Nakita ko chinecheck mo lang palagi score sa NBA.

Sigh.

benjaminbutton Anyway, we left in the afternoon to watch Benjamin Button at Glorietta 4. It was an ok movie for me. Unique story and the way it was told made it not boring. I just found it  weird how Benjie died at the end. My thoughts on the movie is for another post.

After the movie it was time to buy my wife her present. She was eyeing this new pair of shoes at Nine West since a couple of weeks ago. Too bad when we got there they don’t have the size for the style that she wanted.

So we went to to other shoe stores in Glorietta but she couldn’t find anything that she really wanted. Drats, I was hoping she could find something at Janilyn. Hahaha. We decided to check out Shangri-la mall tomorrow instead.

We planned on having dinner at Tony Roma’s for some excellent steak. We ordered  potato skins for our appetizer and a slab of New York striploin for our main course. Good thing we’re not heavy eaters cause that steak was a bit expensive.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to enjoy the food as much as I wanted to. You see, I just had a root canal operation done yesterday so it’s hard to really chew the steak. :(   Well at least my wife enjoyed the food.

cake

Of course a birthday is not complete without a cake with a candle. After we settled our bill, we went to Cheesecake etc. to buy a small cake. Since they’re already closing, we just took the cake home for a private cake-blowing ceremony in our room.

So that’s how my wife’s birthday went. It’s not too fancy but my wife still enjoyed her day despite not getting her shoes. Don’t worry hon, I’ll buy you one tomorrow. Happy birthday again!

    Calvin..

    grammatical error…

“Unfortunately, I didn’t get to enjoy the food as much as I wanted too. You see…”

    It’s supposed to be

…as much as I wanted to. You see…

calvin: you’re right! thanks thanks! tsk na-miss ng wife ko my grammar checker. hehehe.
