I want me a Rock Band!
Last night my wife and I went to this post year-end party by Intel at Mag:net Cafe, The Fort. Anyway, aside from the live band with whom you could sing along with ala amateur night, they also had this Rock Band Xbox in place.
They had this Rock Band contest where groups of four will duke out for the highest score. My wife and I and a couple of others joined and after a bit of practice in different instruments, I ended up with the bass guitar (I wanted to play drums but my wife wants it more). We only ended up third because our vocalist can’t follow the timing of the lyrics properly (26%??). Hehehe.
Still, it was a blast to play. Bass guitar is boring but perfect for beginners. I enjoyed playing the drums especially when you’re about to enter “overdrive” mode for some freestyle drumming. The hardest is the mic where aside from timing the words, you are also being scored for getting the correct pitch which can be messed up by loud ambient noise.
My wife can’t get enough of it and it would be nice if there are commercial places with a Rock Band setup that you could rent. Maybe Red Box Videoke Bar could introduce this in a couple of their rooms.
Even though we didn’t win the contest, my wife didn’t leave empty-handed. She won a Genius MiniDV Camera from the raffle. Lucky girl!

My friend, who’s a Rock Band addict, has been inviting me in his place to play the game. Sobrang addicting daw. I’ll give it a shot of these days. Hehe.
