Local taxi operators to issue receipts in the near future
I was meaning to write about this a couple of weeks ago when I heard on the news that taxis in Metro Manila will start issuing receipts. It was mentioned that taxis whose plates ending in “A” already have the receipt machine installed.
Actually, there are already taxi operators (those from NAIA and others operating in some provinces) issuing automated receipts but do you think this will do good for the people in Metro Manila?
If taxis start issuing receipts, will this stop drivers from:
- choosing passengers
- asking additional payment beforehand
- requesting to turn off the meter
- asking for tip
- tampering their meters
Well that receipt could be a calling card in case you want to report the driver so it could help. It’s scary to accuse the driver or tell him that what he’s doing is illegal. Hehehe. But have you tried reporting rude or choosy drivers to the authority? What’d they say?
How about for the taxi operator? What could they get from spending almost P20k for a receipt machine? Data mining? Yeah that would be helpful for those who own only one taxi.
Ok that’s enough for my ranting. I’m just saying that there’s a lot more things to fix in our transportation industry other than automated receipts for taxis.

hehehe.. oks ang taxi receipt.. pa-reimburse sa office. dito sa china meron sila receipt. Some use it for tax rebate or office reimbursement. No receipt, no reimbursement or rebate.
Para din siguro yan yung sa mga bus na gumagamit ng PDA for the ticket… at least nandun yung starting and ending distance.
Like claudine had said, useful ang taxi receipts since many are working in offices. Oo pang reimburse din yan ng expenses. It will help in taxes too.
Pero wag na sana masyadong gawing big issue too. Like you I agree that there are more pressing matters at hand.
yeah for reimbursement and taxes siguro. pero sana wag naman tumaas ang flag down rate or taxi meter pag naimplement na ito.
