The Curious Case of Benjamin Button movie review
After wasting my money watching Bangkok Dangerous in theaters last time, I had to watch something that’s worth the high ticket price these days and Benjamin Button didn’t disappoint.
Almost everybody knows that this movie involves heavy makeup and CGI to create the effect of the unusual case of Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt). You see, he was born a ninety-year old and was left outside a nursing home when he was still a baby. He had the body of an infant but the skin, bones and eyes of a very old man. And as years go by, he doesn’t grow old but instead he becomes younger.
The story of Benjamin Button is told mostly from his point of view from his diary as read by the daughter of his childhood friend Daisy (Cate Blanchett) on her deathbed. It talks about growing up in the 1920’s not being different from other old people in the nursing home. His friends, his job, his encounters with the opposite sex and even his experience during the war. Sorry no more spoilers.
Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett were both very good in this movie which has a handful of comic relief for a drama that I find quite enjoyable. The musical score was also good and the costumes and scenes from 1920’s up to the 40’s were very detailed. My only qualm I guess is the way how Benjamin Button regressed in his latter years. Pretty lame I might say. Oh yeah, the man who was struck by lightning seven times was not funny but annoying.
After watching the movie, I can’t help thinking that it has a strong resemblance to another one of Pitt’s movie, Meet Joe Black in terms of leaving you unsatisfied yet entertained.
Verdict: 4 out of 5 stars. It’s quite an enjoyable and lovely film. You’ll get your money’s worth if you decide to watch this in theaters. You won’t notice that it’s 160 minutes long.

it was a little weird to see an old version of Brad Pitt’s face pasted onto a kid’s body, but i guess that’s why they call it a “curious case”
calvin: the kid on the wheelchair, was that also pitt? Or did they just used his face?
He was born an “old” baby and he died a “young” baby. =p
calvin: yeah, sana he died a “young” old man na lang.
I liked the film. It has a philosophical approach to it.
calvin: yup. parang meaning of life thingy. hehe.
