Workaround for the grainy Saved Image Bug in iPod Touch
There’s a known bug for the iPod Touch and the iPhone wherein whenever you save an image that looked perfectly well on your Safari or your Mail, it would appear grainy or blurred when you view it in Photos.
This is really disappointing if you want to save lots of online images for offline viewing. Users have reported this bug months ago but there’s still no word from Apple for a fix.
Here’s a screenshot of a saved image that I viewed from my Photos:
Looks bad right?
Until we get a firmware update that will fix this bug, a workaround would be to view your photos using B-base.mobi’s Discover. It’s a free app that allows you to upload photos, videos, documents from your PC to your iPod and even share them to others but I’m not gonna talk about that.
Discover also works well as an alternate photo viewer. Check out the same saved image when viewed using Discover:
Much better no? Even if you zoom in the iamge, the quality will be retained and it won’t pixelate.
All saved photos will appear in Discover but you can’t delete or move it from within the app.
100APPLE will have the saved images and 999APPLE stores screenshots taken with your iPod.
So don’t lose hope saving those images from Flickr or Myspace, you can still view them perfectly well in your iPod Touch or iPhone.
