American Idol’s Allison Iraheta is not a Filipino
I’ve been getting a lot of visits here in my blog for the search keywords “Allison Iraheta” + “Filipino”. For those of you who don’t know, Allison Iraheta (pronounced ay-ra-hee-tah) is one of the youngest contestants at 16 years old who made it to the Top 36.

She looks like a Filipina and her surname sounds like one but she isn’t. She auditioned in San Francisco but she’s originally from Los Angeles and is of Hispanic origin. I was able to verify this from her Myspace page before the contents were removed (which is a policy of AI). But there’s still Google’s cache.
Anyhow, she’s been singing since 5 and has joined and won a singing reality show, Quinceañera, on Telemundo in 2006. Let’s find out in the upcoming weeks if she can compete with the other girls.
