Bohol tour on a budget with Ritchie
On our last day in Bohol, we met this great guy Ritchie Vasquez who brought us to the airport. Before we went to the airport, we asked him to take us to a place for an early lunch. He brought us to Chicken Ati-atihan which is cheap and delicious by the way and we invited him to have lunch with us.

Since he’s so nice to us, I asked him if it’s ok if I give him and his services a free spot on my blog. He gladly obliged so I asked him tons of question over our lunch.
A little something about him
Ritchie has lived all his life in Bohol and has been doing the tourist tour business for quite a long time now. He’s married and is expecting their first child real soon (as of this writing).
He’s a member of the tourist transport co-op in Bohol so you can be sure that he’s trustworthy and won’t take you for a ride. His rates are fair as well and he owns two vehicles, a Toyota Avanza for a small group and a Pregio for a large one.
Rates (this excludes any entrance fee)
- P2,000 using Avanza
- P2,500 using Starex
- P1,500 either vehicle
Going to Danao (can include in the Chocolate Hills Tour)
- P3,500 using Avanza
- P4,000 using Starex
Transport only
- P500 either vehicle
Contact Number: 0915-448-6772 (GLOBE), 0919-765-4571 (SMART)
His Toyota Avanza is very nice because it’s quite spacious for a small group unlike the sedan of other drivers.
Ritchie can also take care of your hotel accommodations and boat tours so he can be your all-in-one guy. He’s a trusted driver of Dumaluan Resort by the way. So if you’re looking for someone to tour you around Bohol or just a driver during your stay there, Ritchie’s your man.
Hehehe, I don’t have any cut or discounts from posting this. Just helping out a good man.

This post is really helpful.
We are going to Cebu and Bohol before the end of this month. I am able to cascade less expenses by contacting Richie and Dodong directly. They are both accomdating and we’ll be seeing them soon.
Thanks a lot for these great tips.
Really really helpful tips!
You think there will be enough time to do the Dolphine+Balicasag+Virgin Island in the morning, then Panglao Island Tour in the afternoon? Or is it too tight of a schedule?
that’s a good plan. it’s pretty doable. boat trip in the morning then relaxing ride around the island in the afternoon.
Is it possible to do the Panglao Island tour in a motorbike?
Also, how much/how do u arrange transfers to and from Tagbilaran airport? We’re staying at Oops Cottages but they have not replied regarding my inquiry.
Thanks a lot!
yup. foreigners do that. Saw some bike rentals near Alona beach.
You better contact Ritchie himself for rates. He doesn’t check this page. hehehe.
sir, paano kung mag-isa ka lang pupuntang Bohol ok lang b mag commute ka on the first day lalo na country side tour lang yun gagawin mo den you’ll go back to the city for the Panglao tour / dolphin watching, other activities ..this is just to lessen the expenses. ahm..do you really need the tour guide ba tlga pra ma enjoy mo yun country side tour?
hope to hear from you
Thanks for your blog.this is so helpful!
hmm if you’re going to commute baka mahirapan ka to get to the off-the-beaten path places like the chocolate hills. parang wala kasi ako masyadong nakikitang mga jeepneys plying those roads eh.
hi Calvin,
We’re a group of 7 people planning to visit Bohol this coming week. We’re planning to do just an overnight trip (maybe a night at the beach and a countryside tour starting noon till evening) since most of them would like to spend their time in Cebu where i currently stay. I’ve only been here for a month so i asked a friend who’s from Bohol to look for a package for us. He contacted a person there and gave us a package including accommodation beside Bohol beach resort with 2 meals (dinner and breakfast) and countryside tour which covers all entrances for 3k per person. I learned that a 2-way ferry from Cebu port would cost us around 700 each and lunch in Loboc River would be 500 including the entrance fee. I’ve called Kuya Ritchie just today and he told me that its better if we would just look for a place there instead of opting for a package tour. I just need your opinion about this though, do you think P4200 is fair enough for an overnight trip? That’s a whopping P29400 for all of us in less than a day. They already want us to send half of the package amount to their bank account by Monday so i would need you help before I would be blamed for not getting the cheapest deal. Hope to hear from you.
i think what you can do is ask kuya ritchie a quote for his tour for 7 people. you need 2 vehicles there. not a fan of panglao tour so if you can scratch it off your budget it’ll be cheaper. then look for a resort probably in alona (if you’re in the party mood) and just chill out at the beach on the 2nd day before heading back for cebu.
Sir Calvin, I’ll be going to Bohol on January 2011 and i want to stay in Dumaluan Beach Resort 2. Can you help me on who to contact for the reservation? Si Ritchie ba? How do we pay them? Ok ba yung Standard Aircon room nila?
yup si ritchie irerecommend ko. uhmm ask him how yung payment. standard aircon ng dumaluan ok naman.
Can he speak good English?
Do you think he will have problems with a gay couple? I’ve read some reviews somewhere that homophobic remarks come from a security guard or a driver (or maybe both) of Dumaluan Resort while staying there.
hi andrew, he speaks passable english and as for his homophobic tendency, i’m not aware of it.
he’s a nice guy in my book.
hi calvin,
it is possible to commute to go in DANAO?? how??? frm paragayo resort to danao???
budgeted kc kmi eh..
how much ky mng ritchie for 3 heads?
tnx
if you check the EAT Danao website it says there that public buses are available from Tagbilaran to Danao and vice versa. from the bus terminal there, mag tricycle to go to EAT. Kay Ritchie I think is P2,400 pero not that sure. Better text him na lang. 3 hours daw yung travel time to Danao from Tagbilaran.
Hi Calvin,
actually I’ve read ur blog before I went to Bohol(Jan9-Jan12 2011) and take note of Kuya ritchie’s number
He’s our driver for 2days there in BOhol and he’s really nice he even ask me if where I got his contact and I told him I got it here on your website and he was so thankful to you
I really recommend him even on our last day in bohol he even agreed to take us back there in bohol bee farm again without any additional charge (1st day in bohol I called him to take us there but since its a bit late we didnt have the farm-bee tour) since we went back to the hotel 2 foreigners join us on our ride that is why when we paid him in full he gave us a discount but we still paid him in full and told him d change will be his tip =)
Kuya Ritchie is nice and wont take advantage of you
tnxs again calvin He told us you’re going back in bohol on Feb for Danao trip pls send our regards to him =)
thanks arlene for sharing your tour experience with Ritchie. yes we will meet him again this Feb for our danao trip.
