Touring Bohol Part 1: The Plan

touringboholFor our first vacation trip this year, my wife and I decided to go to Bohol and tour the sites there. Bohol is located in the middle of the Philippines and is the home of the tarsiers and more than 1,200 Chocolate Hills.

Planning for the trip is quite easy than you think. You just have to find the suitable package tour for you. It would be easier than commuting your way to all of the tourist sites so save yourself the hassle and just look for a package tour.

Bohol package tours usually lasts 3 days complete with the accommodation and transport service to and from the airport as well as the island hopping via motorized boat. Entrance fee for the sites are also included.

Our point of contact was Mang Boy (09156517933) who arranged everything for us for only P15,000. This includes the city and island tours, hotel accommodation for 2, boat tour and transport to and from the airport. All our tours are exclusive to us by the way so we control how much time we have to spend on each place.

Here’s a sample itinerary for a tour in Bohol:

DAY 1 – Bohol Country Side Tour

  • tarsierBlood Compact site
  • Baclayon Church and Museum
  • Python and Tarsiers
  • Loboc River Cruise (lunch included)
  • Hanging Bridge
  • Mahogany man-made forest
  • Chocolate Hills

DAY 2 – Balicasag Island

  • Dolphin watching early in the morning
  • Snorkeling in Balicasag Island
  • Swimming in Virgin Island

DAY 3 – Panglao Island Tour

  • panglaoisland Dauis Church
  • Hinagdanan Cave
  • Panglao Church and watchtower
  • Alona White Beach
  • Bayoyoy the Dwarf
  • Bohol Bee Farm

We had 4 days to spend in Bohol so the 4th day will be just for swimming and enjoying our resort. I’ll be going into detail how each of our day went in the next few parts.

Wow! That’s a really exciting trip! Blood compact? Yay!

calvin: blood compact site is just a place with a boring statue. didn’t spend more than 5 minutes there. :P

Very cool itinerary, enjoy the trip! Did you take the Night Cruise in the Loboc River?

calvin: we’re back. nope we did it during daytime so no lights for us. the river was muddy too due to heavy rains the day before so it wasn’t so breathtaking. :(

hi calvin.. ive been a follower of your site for a long time. anyway, would it be ok to ask how much was your budget for this trip. im planning to go here this summer with my fiance..

    thanks!

    • Calvin says:

hi grace! our fare was very cheap due to a CebuPac promo coz i think we got it for less than 3k. Then for our 3 nights accommodation with breakfast and our transport/tour it’s P15,000. Tapos we also brought additional money to spend on pasalubong and food.

      • grace says:

wow thats cheap! and you stayed pa in dumaluan. i wanted there also.. did you have someone arrange your trip like an agency or you and your wife lang fixed it?

        • Calvin says:

our contact there was Mang Boy (09156517933) who arranged everything including the boat tour and accommodation.

we stayed in dumaluan 2 by the way which has much better rooms but always dined in dumaluam 1 which is more cheaper.

if you want to compare prices, our driver for the last day was Ritchie Vasquez (09197654571). ok din sya and he can arrange the whole trip for you.

No wonder you didn’t give her flowers for valentines na :) I didn’t know there was a dumaluan 1 and 2.

We missed the Balicasag Island tour, a reason for us to go back there diba? :)

calvin: nice beach to go to if you’re tired of boracay and puerto galera. :P sulit talaga yung snorkeling sa balicasag island.

hi! have u heard of the Sagbayan peak?? is that also far from the tourist spots?

    • Calvin says:

Sorry I haven’t heard of it until now. I think closest sa kanya is the Chocolate Hills which is malayo rin from the city itself. sa bundok na yung resort.

hi calvin! we were planning to go to bohol by july of this year and we’re a group of 9..i already talked to mang boy about the tour package which i found on the internet and he suggested for us to stay at dumaluan beach resort but i forgot to ask him about the resort’s check-in time which is 2 pm? How is it possible to be there at 2 pm when the countryside tour takes about 8 hours and how about our baggage if we go directly from the airport to the day tour?

    • Calvin says:

hi yen, i don’t think the tour will take 8 hours. siguro mga 5 hours lang pwede na yun. kami we arrived at 10 am tapos by 3 naglalakad na kami sa beach hehehe.

you can stow your baggage naman sa van during the tour. tanong nyo na rin kay mang boy kung magkakasya sa sasakyan nya. maganda talaga na from airport diretso tour na para hindi sayang oras.

      • choi says:

Yup use the van for baggage, inform DBR that your checking in late in the afternoon. Saves you an extra day for the resort.

We started our tour at 10 am straight from Tagbilaran SeaPort finished it at 5pm (last stop Choco Hills). But I had my kids with me so they kinda dictated the time per spot. But 5 hours is enough.
