How to play NES games on your iPod Touch
Yes, you can play your favorite NES games such as Mario Bros., Adventure Island, Punch Out, etc. on your iPod with a NES emulator. Read on if you wanna know how.

First, here are the things that you need:
- Jailbroken iPod Touch / iPhone (with firmware 2.21)
- NES Emulator (need WiFi for this)
- NES games (ROMs in .nes format)
- DiskAid to transfer your ROMs to your iPod
NES Emulator
1. To get the NES Emulator, you need a WiFi internet to connect to Cydia.
2. Click Search and key in “NES” or just browse through the letter “N”.

3. Choose NES (from BigBoss) and install it.
Update: If you’re on firmware 3.0 already, chose NES 3 instead.
Where to get NES ROMs?
So you got your NES Emulator installed, now let’s look for ROMs of your favorite games. My favorite place to get ROMs is from The Old Computer. Very easy site to use. No need to sign up or anything and downloading files is a breeze.
I’m gonna go ahead and download Super Mario Bros. 1. Save and extract and you should have a .nes file.
I suggest renaming the file the way you want it displayed on your iPod.
Transfer ROMs to your iPod
Ok so you got your games and hopefully you stored them all in one folder. It’s time to transfer them to your iPod. But first, you need a tool called DiskAid. Download and install it.
1. Plug in your iPod Touch and run DiskAid.
2. Go to the Media Folder.

3. Right-click on it and create a folder called ROMs (case-sensitive).

4. Right-click on the ROMs folder and create a folder called NES.
5. What you do is drag all your ROM into the NES folder then exit DiskAid when you’re done.
Enjoy playing
Now you can enjoy playing NES games on your iPod Touch. Run your NES app then select the game you wish to play.

Yeah yeah, it’s hard to play when all those buttons are close to each other especially if you have big fingers but hey, it’s still cool!

sa PSP ko ito nilalaro, kaso nakakatamad kasi anliit ng screen .. hehe!
calvin: hehe at least yung buttons ok. sa iPod di mo alam kung up or right arrow ang mapipindot mo eh.
haha ditto…sayang ung ganda ng games…lalo na mario grabe hirap…
I have a question. I don’t have a ROMS folder already
What do I do?
calvin: create the folder. You can create new folders with DiskAid.
Hello,
i have a question. I did everything you explained even I draged all the games (ROM) into the NES folder but I still dont have them in my ipod. After I drag there is anything else I have to do? Please help me I will love to play this games in my ipod
The games do not appear on your NES emulator? Hmmm. are the game files in .nes format? maybe you forgot to extract it after downloading. it should also be inside the ROMs/NES folder.
How do I drag the folder to the other one???
dragging should work. or you can try manually creating each folder/subfolder by right-clicking before dragging the files.
I’m doing exactly what this says and when I open up the NES emulator it says ROMS cannot be found.
Do I have to click the “copy to device” button?
Also, when I create the ROMS folder in the initial directory, it creates a folder called private, under which (several subfolders later) the ROMS folders appears. I put the .nes file in the NES folder.
I’m running a jailbroken iPod Touch 2g.
No need to press the copy to device button. drag and drop worked for me. make sure that you’re in the Media folder of your device and not the Root Folder.
I’m using DiskAid 2.12 by the way (not the latest one). You can still download it here.
I’m using Mac OS X 10.5, does that matter?
sorry man i’m not so sure. but when i made this guide, i tried using the updated version of diskaid but it didn’t really work on my machine so i downgraded to a lower version. see if you can find a lower version for mac.
i have the nes roms but when i exit the game it doesnt save????
Sorry i don’t got my nes game on my jailbroken 3.0 but i know that when you exit the game it will save the last state unless you switch games. it will also ask first if you want to save when you exit.
So, if running 3.0 on a jailbroken 2g ipod touch, the nes will not function properly?
for 3.0, install NES 3 instead.
Hi, I downloaded everything but when I went to try it on my ipod, the NES program was blank with only the buttons. And when I tried to press something the screen froze. So I had to go back to homescreen. Do you know what I did wrong?
hmmm, are you on firmware 3.0 already? if so, you need to install NES 3 instead. did you put the games in their proper folder?
No I don’t have firmware 3.0, and everything was in the right folder. Do you think you might know what is wrong?
calvin: hmmm, I’m stumped then. sorry. try downloading NES app again?
Wont work on my 3.0 iPod touch, is there another way you can get NES 3 without paying for it on cydia?? please reply…. Thanks
You don’t have to pay for NES 3 in Cydia. At least i didn’t. I think most or all apps in Cydia are free to download. I don’t know what else to suggest. It’s working for me and my friends.
