Not gonna buy Monterey again

Last week, we bought some beef meat from Monterey in a supermarket. It’s been a long time since my wife and I had steak so we bought ourselves some rib-eyes. We also got ourselves a couple of strips of pork belly.

Anybody got any bad experience buying meat from Monterey? Coz when we cooked the steak it was tough and chewy that we weren’t able to finish it. Same with the pork belly (liempo), it was too tough to chew on that we didn’t bother eating it. Just cooked spam instead. Hehehe.

I’m not sure if the meat was fresh but it looked and smelled like it. We went to the grocery early too so they’re not leftover meat.

Anyway, so what kind or brand of meat do you buy? Mrs. Garcia? Tender Bob’s? Guess we won’t be buying from Monterey unless there’s no more choices.

calvin: hmm or baka luma yung meat? pwede ba yun ang reason?

Hmmm.. not all branded things/food perform up to par. I often see items/food/things that are really cheap but are really tasteful – especially when it comes to food.

Di kami bumibili ng Monterey hehehe, so I am not aware of this problem. Siguro advantage ko kasi wala ako sa Manila, nasa Baguio ako, so it’s possible that meat that’s delivered and sold at the local palengke is better than the ones sold at Manila.

    Ingat na lang.

huy palitan mo na link ko! but nway, monterey kami lagi sa phils kasi mas fresh ang meat nila as compared sa iba. or minsan when we try other brands may ibang lasa. na-over lang siguro yung pag cook nyo. it’s hard to cook a perfect steak kahit anong brand ng meat pa yan :)

calvin: hehe ayan napalitan ko na. :P di sumbora pagluto namin. may pagka-rare pa nga eh. matigas lang talaga ang meat. or siguro dahil hindi nagamitan ng tenderizer?
