Kris Allen got Gokey’s votes to be the next American Idol
“After the nationwide vote of nearly 100 million, the winner of American Idol 2009 is… Kris Allen!!!” – Ryan Seacrest

That’s right, Kris Allen won this year’s American Idol besting the judges’ favorite, Adam Lambert.
“Are you frikkin’ serious?” says Kris.
Who knew that the kid lacking the stage swagger, as Simon often commented, will win against the confident showman that is Adam in this Adam Lambert show?
During the final 3, Adam and Kris were only separated by a million votes. Going to the finale, it all boils down to who will get the majority of Danny Gokey’s votes and it seems that most of them went to Kris.
It’s not surprising that fans of Danny will most likely turn to support Kris than Adam. Kris is a married college student who has worked as a church worship leader. Danny is a recent widower who’s also a church musical director.
I don’t think it’s a Christian thing but it’s more of taste in music. Danny’s and Kris’ laid back music style are more similar than that of Adam’s bold, live concert-worthy type of performances.
What Kris lacks in panache, he makes it up with sincere and passionate performances. Adam is brilliant but oftentimes, the flair and flamboyance that he brings to stage strips off the honesty that people watching in their TV’s want. They can’t feel the energy that Adam brings but they can feel Kris singing to their soul.
The stage is already Adam’s playground and he’s already great to begin with. But we saw Kris, the unknown from the start, discover himself and matured as the competition went on. Guess everybody really love the underdog.
Anyway Adam and Kris are both winners even before the finale started. And as Simon told the both of them, “The future’s all yours.”

hay… i knew it.. kris allen would win! not that I don’t like him… he’s relevant, his songs are more appealing, he’s cute… his song choices for me are better than adam’s (kasi ang daming sigaw)… he’s a total package… pero somehow, i wanted adam to win coz i feel/think he deserves it??? oh well…
nah, both deserved to win although Adam was destined to win from the start. nasulot lang ni Kris kasi underdog sya.
Yehey Kris! Kanina pa ako nagaabang ng post mo calvin, late ka ngayon ah. I like your words ha… “panache”
I observed Kris’ reaction when Ryan made the announcement, he was overwhelmed and totally not expecting to win. But both are very talented, so “the future is all theirs”
i guess people want to see more of Kris and his different take on stuff. Adam Lambert is pretty pegged and tagged and marked as the ‘rocker’. But who knows, not all winners get the truly fantastic careers.
too bad for adam…what will his future be in hollywood? Hmmm…
Adam is very positive in moving on. What is unfortunate is that most media, people in the music business and fans across the country recognize Adam as the true talent and Idol. The realization that American Idol has become a voting and home state contest and not an assessment of singing talent was made clear by AT & T’s statistic disclosure this morning.
AT & T CONFIRMED FROM THEIR DATA THAT 38 MILLION VOTES CAME FROM ARKANSAS. THE POPULATION OF ARKANSAS IS ABOUT 2.8 MILLION.
THEY WERE USING GIZMO AND DIAL IDOL SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGY.
One Arkansas church group of 105 people said they got in 436,655 votes using the software and their texts. This is not American Idol as voted by millions, this is a few hundred thousand people trained in one state skewing the results (plus the Gokey fans).
AI IS NO LONGER A TALENT/SINGING CONTEST, THIS IS A REGIONAL VOTING AND TECHNOLOGY CONTEST.
Kris admitted “Adam deserved this” He heard afterwards about the voting and technology training in Arkansas. He did not want to win that way.
The reason Simon did not stand clapping with the other judges is because he knew America made a mistake and the voting had gotten skewed.
And last, remember that Elvis lost a talent contest in Mississippi before he became a recording artist. Adam is our American Idol, Kris is an Arkansas Idol
calvin: i agree with you on this one. and i think the judges knows about it ever since that it’s really a popularity contest not a talent contest. The judges can only do so much (Judges’ veto). But when everything’s said and done, i don’t think that Adam or Kris cares who wins it because in the end, i’m sure both of them will have recording contracts already.
Okay lang sana na si Kris ang manalo kung okay yung performance nya nung finale. Pero he messed up the winner’s song and that’s unacceptable.
calvin: yeah. he’s trying to make it big even if his voice can’t reach it. if he tried to “allenize” it naman baka masapawan ni Adam. Hindi talaga pang-winner’s song si Kris.
