Can’t get enough of Rock Band Unplugged

Lately, my wife and I (my wife mostly) have been taking turns playing Rock Band Unplugged on my PSP. It’s one of the highly anticipated games to arrive in the PSP recently filled with not-so-stellar games.

Rock Band Unplugged If you’re expecting to plug in guitars or drums in your PSP to play this game then you’re crazy. Rock Band Unplugged is just a rhythm game very similar to PS2’s Amplitude in a Rock Band packaging which is no surprise since Harmonix made both.

In the game, you’ll have to juggle controlling each instrument (bass, guitar, mic, drums) and playing a sequence of beats in succession to have that instrument play on its own for a while.

So if you missed hitting the right buttons for the mic, you will hear the vocals missing its lyrics or completely going silent until you start hitting the notes correctly. Each song also has a solo part if you’re tired of switching between instruments.

Try it out in medium difficulty first because the easy mode only involves 2 buttons. Heh.

The in-game track list spans from the 60’s to year 2000 and features a lot of my favorites. I’m still in the early stages of my tour but I personally enjoy playing to Weezer’s Buddy Holly, Billy Idol’s White Wedding and Pearl Jam’s Alive. I’m also waiting for downloadable songs which includes Oasis’ Wonderwall and RHCP’s Under the Bridge.

You can also personalize the look of your band members (which I had a blast doing last night) using in-game credits to buy outfits, hairstyles and instruments.

Rockband Unplugged is a very nice pick-me-up game that you should have in your PSP. Oh yeah, don’t forget your earphones!
