Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Hit and Miss
Seldom do I watch premiere showing of movies because of the absurd price of tickets and the huge crowd associated with it especially if the movie is highly anticipated.

Fortunately, sometimes being a blogger has its perks. My wife and I were able to watch Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen courtesy of LG and it’s new LG Arena phone at Greenbelt 3’s My Cinema (mini-theater for private screening). That took care of the ticket and the crowd as there were lots of empty seats in the mini-theater. Free snacks too!
Going into this film, I read Roger Ebert’s dismal review of Transformers 2 saying:
“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” is a horrible experience of unbearable length, briefly punctuated by three or four amusing moments.
So I wasn’t keeping my hopes and just want to enjoy the movie and see if Ebert’s right. And my verdict? It’s pretty enjoyable actually if you get past the first few scenes.
Here’s what I think are the hit and miss on the film without giving away anything (maybe a little).
Things I couldn’t care for:
- First fight scene really sucks. You don’t know who’s attacking who or who are the good guys. Military tactic is full of holes.
- That robot Gremlin moment feels weird.
- American Pie moment. For a while I thought I was watching a college teen flick.
- Some cheesy dialogues. Ebert was right on about this.
- Transformations are hard to follow and a bit slow. Milking on the CGI eh?
- The Keenan and Kell robots. You know what I mean.
- Scene during the credits… what was that all about?
Things I liked:
- Megan Fox!! I don’t mind watching her run over and over again! Hahaha.
- Fight scenes with slow-mo. Kickass! Gotta love fight sequences involving Optimus Prime.
- Devastator!!
- Ramon Rodriguez (Leo, Sam’s roommate) is hilarious.
- Super Ultimate Optimus Prime!
The plot is actually not hard to follow despite veering away from what we really know about the Transformers during our childhood. Admittedly, there are lots of holes in the story or on how a scene was executed but I doubt if there would ever be a perfect Transformers movie.
Fortunately, it doesn’t feel too long at 2 and a half hour.
Oh did I already said that Megan Fox was absolutely hot?
Thanks LG! Can’t wait for GI Joe.
