We’re back from Boracay
After four days of mixed weather in Boracay, we’re now back in Manila. How’s my first-time experience in Boracay? Well it didn’t exactly panned out as planned but I still can say that it was an adventure.
Instead of detailing our escapades, here’s a list of the high’s and low’s of our vacation. Let’s start with the lows:
Lows
1. Disastrous day one, you can read it on my previous post. No thanks to the uncooperative weather.
2. The beach is filled with debris and driftwood. No fun swimming if there’s a lot of floating debris.
3. The place where we stayed gets flooded easily due to rain. Hate having wet, sandy feet whenever we enter our room.
4. Our new, kinda expensive umbrella broke Sunday night after venturing outside in search of food. The wind was really strong and it bent the sturdy frame of our umbrella.
5. My trusty Nikon camera broke after it fell off the too-cushiony seat in Aria. We weren’t able to take lots of photos just when the weather became sunny,
6. We weren’t able to try the much-hyped fruit shake of Jonah’s. It’s far from our place (near D’mall) and every time we venture there it would start to rain.
7. Didn’t do any activities. We’re supposed to go island hopping but when our camera broke, we decided to just spend the money on food.
8. Price of food!! We allotted P400 per meal and that should already include dessert. A good, decent meal in the restos there would cost you around P300 per head.
9. Occasional brown-outs. We had at least one brown-out daily. Luckily they don’t last long.
10. WiFi on our place is spotty.
Highs
1. Banana-cue. Hooray for cheap merienda!
2. Tacos at Mañana. P300 for 3 healthy servings of tacos. Delicious!
3. Grilled lobster by the beach. One whole lobster weighing half a kilo for P700 is very much worth it.
4. Fruits in Ice Cream. Hooray for cheap dessert. P60 is cheap considering the price of shakes, crepes, etc.
5. Free serving of Angus beef at Rumba’s. Here’s what happened:
We ordered one serving of Angus Beef for sharing so the cook split it into two plates. The owner thought that we ordered two so when he saw the small serving on each plate, he got mad at the cook not knowing that it’s only for one order.
Anyway, not listening to any explanations from the cook, he ordered to add more steak and this caused delay. So he gave us a drink of our choice and we got a Boracay Splash (minty chocolate shake) on the house.
When we got our order, the beef, mashed potatoes, and side dish looked like it’s good for two big foreigners already. Total bill… P850! Hehehe. Good deal for two helpings of delicious prime beef!
6. Not crowded. It’s so easy to find a spot to lounge at the beach and a table when dining.
7. P1000 a night accommodation with free breakfast and a couple of complimentary drinks. Cheap!!
8. Lastly, strolling at the beach at night with my wife after a very hearty dinner.
So all in all, I enjoyed our vacation to some extent but I would go back to Boracay when given a chance. I don’t like it too crowded and noisy but I really love to see the place when the beach is clean and the sea is calm.

Hey 1k per night? San kayo nag stay?
sa Tan’s guesthouse kami although i don’t recommend their pagumuulan unless ok lang sayo maglakad sa baha sa labas nila. when we got to Boracay from the boat marami ring nag-ooffer ng 1k a night na accommodation. didn’t ask where though.
2011 na. available pa kaya ang P1k room accomodation? with free breakfast? heheh
baka meron pa… pag off-peak. hehehe.
At least nakarating ka na ng Bora. Ako hanggang ngayon, pangarap pa rin sya. huhuhu
Hey Calvin,
Welcome back…all in all I could say you made the most out of the given situation. Best time as always would be summer months (budget-busters). Hopefully, we can visit Boracay some time. Its back to school for kids, etc.
Thanks for being my first visitor on my blog….
Take care.
calvin: starting november daw considered as peak na ulit doon. daming foreigners.

calvin: ayaw ko talaga pag maraming tao. siguro feb ulit.
I am sorry for your first time experience, it must have been a La nina. The best time to visit the island is during summer but be sure to book early as this is also a peak season for tourist.- Engr Jayl Boraweather
i must say na sobrang nakaka addict ang boracay. we wer there in MAY2010 then came back again in June2010.
And this year i and my friends are booked on SEPT and DEC.
mas ok magpunta ng bora kapag summer kasi ang puti ng sand. not like kapag start n ng rainy season e sa kbilang shore n ang mas puntahan.
kapag di planado ang pagpunta ng bora talagang butas bulsa mo> pero once n nakapunta k n ng bora kaya mo n i budget mga activities mo> . bora is a place for party and for relaxation. babalik balikan mo!
It’s good to offer. And I have been taught about this article. And will be used in everyday life.
