How to ward off flies using cheap materials
In the past couple of weeks, we didn’t know why flies are attracted inside our home. There was no food lying around and we already used disinfectant on our dining table. We had to resort on leaving some sticky fly paper overnight just to catch a few.
Here’s a neat trick I just discovered on how to get rid of flies from your room. Simply place a water inside a clear plastic bag and hang it outside your door. This will ward off flies wanting to enter your house.
Why does it work?
According to HowStuffWorks, the water in a clear plastic bag refracts light passing through it, altering the course and velocity of it.
The housefly’s head consist of large complex eyes which makes them more visually sensitive to their surrounding. They based their sense of direction on sunlight and when light refracts (bends), they become confused and flies away.
Interesting huh? It really works since restaurants and outdoor grills often hang bags of water near the dining area.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t work on mosquitoes and other simple-eyed insects. But what if the flies are already inside? How do you drive them outside? Shrug.
