Wanna know what games people are playing in Facebook? Tired of playing the same game over and over again?

Well here are the top 10 games in Facebook going into August 2009 according to the number of monthly users. You might find a game that you haven’t tried before.

Actually, the number one game is from MindJolt Games but I won’t include it in the list because it’s actually a collection of over 500 games. It currently has 16,373,477 active monthly users by the way.

Moving on, here’s the Top 10 Facebook Games heading into August 2009:

10. Sorority Life – 4,875,472 monthly active users

No, I haven’t played or even tried this game but I’m guessing it’s something like Fashion Wars. Dress up your avatar, do jobs, earn money, buy stuff. I think both games have the same audience so better stick to one.

9. Barn Buddy – 4,948,969 monthly active users

Barn Buddy has toppled its primary competition Happy Farm which has exactly the same gameplay thanks to its better graphics and faster response. It’s a simpler version of a farm game.

8. FARKLE – 5,267,191 monthly active users

FARKLE is a dice game which I thought was similar to how Yahtzee (or Chinese New Year dice game) is played. But it’s not. The combinations are different but your aim is still to get the best score in 10 sets and try to beat your friends’ scores.

7. Bejeweled Blitz – 5,952,144 monthly active users

Ahh the popular match-3 game that started all games of its kind from PopCap has cracked the top 10.  Friends try to beat each other’s high score to be on top of the scoreboard even for just a week.

6. Restaurant City – 8,733,452 monthly active users

I quit playing Restaurant City when I reached level 27 but I heard that they incorporated new things aside from decors such as a menu for drinks and sounds for your resto.

5. YoVille – 10,654,882 monthly active users

Still haven’t and still won’t play this game for kids. It’s a sims type of game with limited features but kids love it.

4. Pet Society – 14,532,854 monthly active users

The game where you create your own alien-looking pet to take care of is still running strong. I know this is really a popular pet sim-type of game but I still won’t play it. I’d rather play Kung-Fu Pets.

3. Farm Town – 14,902,946 monthly active users

The best farming game so far is Farm Town but I just don’t get it. The graphics kinda sucks and the user interface is not intuitive. If you want a better looking farm game really similar to Farm Town, try Zynga’s Farmville.

2. Texas HoldEm Poker – 15,170,767 monthly active users

Zynga’s Texas HoldEm Poker is not the most popular game anymore but it’s really close with the number 1. Moreso, it won’t lose its appeal to the mass especially the casual poker players anytime soon.

1. Mafia Wars – 15,393,227 monthly active users

And the number 1 game in Facebook heading into August is Zynga’s Mafia Wars. The introduction of Mafia Wars Cuba brought back a lot of old players who grew bored of the game and it earned them the number 1 spot in terms of monthly users.

It’s funny that only one Wars-type of game got in and it’s amazing that it’s the number one game. I guess Vampire Wars, Fashion Wars, Street Racing, Castle Wars doesn’t have that much of a fan-base compared to Mafia Wars.

Other notable games that didn’t get into the top 10 are:

• Typing Maniac by Metrogames
• Friends for Sale by Serious Business
• Geo Challenge by Playfish
• Who Has The Biggest Brain by Playfish

I’m gonna do this again next month to see if a new game pops up or if the top 5 can be shaken up.
