Typhoon Ondoy: The Aftermath Photos
Typhoon Ondoy has already left Metro Manila leaving millions of pesos worth of properties and infrastructures damaged in its wake. Also, 73 people were already confirmed dead and 23 are still missing while affecting almost 340,000 people, according to GMA News.
Aside from the postponement of the bar exam today, education Secretary Jesli Lapus has announced that classes in all levels in the metro and other flood-affected areas are suspended until Tuesday.
Number coding is suspended for the week while government offices are business as usual. Same with private companies unless declared otherwise.
Again, here are some photos I gathered online of the aftermath of Typhoon Ondoy.
I hope insurance companies are prepared for the amount of claims they will be expecting. Auto-repair shops should be prepared too.
Credit goes to the respectful owners of the photos. I hope they don’t mind me sharing it here.
Compared to Hurricane Katrina, Ondoy dumped almost twice the amount of rain according to the chief of PAGASA.
Donations for the flood victims are very much welcome. Here’s a spreadsheet of the places where you can donate cash or relief goods. Here are some more relief centers in Makati and Quezon City.
Let’s continue praying for those who are still missing and in need of rescuing and also those who have been displaced.

Nobody expected the rain to be torrential and this destructive. It can’t be helped that the situation is caused tremendously by global warming. I’m saddened by the news that numerous families are now without a home, worst, several people died.
Hope you and your family are doing well. Take care.
Yes we were among the fortunate who didn’t get affected with the flood. But i have a lot of friends na talagang masama yung nangyari. I’m glad though na safe naman sila kahit papano. I hope kayo rin are doing good.
grabe yung scene sa rosario bridge.
…so if i’m getting this correctly, if the Water Company didn’t do all those drainage improvements (damaging the roads) during the past few months, the scenario now would be a lot worse?
I think so. dito sa aming grabeng street and water pipes/drainage repairs ginawa the past few weeks. I think it helped kahit papaano during the storm. hindi masyadong binaha although maputik ngayon sa labas. Pasay City is not that affected compared to Manila I think.
ang lupet nito. we didn’t really expect this no? i mean, imagine, twice the amount of rain from katrina?! and i think even more than the worse we have experienced in decades! i wanted to volunteer but i can’t leave my family naman, so, sa ngayon. paypal donations na lang muna and information dissemination — hopefully makatulong.
re: insurance
unless you have “force of nature” accidents included in your insurance, the insurance company won’t accept your claim…
we had a similar situation last year (during typhoon frank) and sad to say we weren’t covered =(
there’s still the calamity fund from SSS though. I hope di sila maubusan.
this is why govt. officials don’t go around spending a million just for a dinner. dami pa sanang natulungan ngayon kahit half of that bill ang ginamit.
Calamity fund for SSS is still on hold so we can only avail it thru Pagibig and GSIS. Sana lang aksyunan nila ito ng mabilis bec a lot of people are in need. Ung mga kakandidato sa 2010 make it happen.
Hello,
I’m Carmela Mendoza, a Filipino based in Singapore. I’m currently compiling Ondoy photos for a free iphone app that we are producing. It’s going to be a photo book that would raise awareness on the plight of the victims, with a page on how/where to donate. We’d like very much to have your photos on the app, if you would allow us. All credit will be given to you as photographer.
Thanks very much and hope to hear from you soon. We would like to get this out as quickly as possible.

hi carmela,
like you, i just compiled photos i found on the net. I don’t own those photos i posted on my site. however, it’s hard to track down the real owners but i think they won’t mind you using them if it’s for a good cause. Make the app free or maybe paid if you’re going to donate the proceeds to relief funds. thank you for helping raise awareness.
