Got Talent is coming to the Philippines
I saw the commercial for this the other day. It seems that ABS-CBN is bringing Simon Cowell’s “Got Talent” franchise to the country which is going to be called “Pilipinas Got Talent”.
I’m a fan of Britain’s Got Talent (even got an own category for it here) but I don’t know how the show will translate here in the Philippines. I didn’t like America’s Got Talent because of the judges. Piers Morgan is ok but “The Hoff” is a joke as a judge.
There’s no word yet on who will judge the local version. I’m hoping Ryan Cayabyab is one of them. He’s the type of judge that’s hard to please but people really respects.
The show is also not really just about the talent but the story behind the contestants. Take for example cellphone salesman turned opera-singer Paul Potts. Or Susan Boyle, the 47-year old who could sing Broadway really well. It’s also not just for singers but entertainers like my all-time favorite, Stavros Flatly.
So what kinda talent will the Pinoys have? Hopefully, we can match the Brits. “Wag na sana mga kumakain ng sili or tumatawid sa bubog.”

Actually, di na bago ang ganito na concept sa Philippine TV. We already have Talentadong Pinoy ng TV 5 tsaka ung Kahit Ano Pwede ng GMA 7.
Sympre, ayaw patalo ng ABS-CBN kaya may sarili din sila. It remains to be seen yet kung papatok ba ung sa kanila.
the americal idol translation didn’t catch on here in the philippines… i dunno about ‘got talent’ .. it has something to do with our culture i guess. Seems like big brother is the only one that can make the leap to ours
… so far
yeah medyo olats nga yung mgsa talent/singing competition dito sa pinas compared to other countries. i wonder why.
good point sa big brother. di hamak na mas ok yung big brother naten compared sa iba.
Unfortunately, majority of the Filipino viewers are easily captivated with stories and intrigues about other people’s lives (translation: mga tsismoso karamihan sa atin, hehe). That I believe, is why showbiz talk shows and tele-novelas are such a hit with our televiewers.
So if the local version of “Got Talent” follows the formula of coming out with “interesting” details about their contestants lives, there really is a high probability the show will be a hit here.
maganda rin naman ang pilipinas got talent.. may ibubuga rin naman ang mga pinoy as far as the 2 episodes are concerned..
di ko lang feel ang mga judges. walang dating. mas natuwa pa ako sa mga judges ng showtime. hehehe.
