My Subic Ultimate Experience – Tree Top Adventure
Last week I went to Subic for an adventure with a group of media people courtesy of Olympus and their Tough line of digital cameras. We did the Tree Top and Ocean Adventure which I recommend to others who will be visiting Subic.
It was almost a 3-hour drive but the SCTEX road was very pleasant to travel to.
We stayed overnight at the Camayan Beach Resort which is located just beside the Ocean Adventure.
The resort is very nice especially the rooms and they have free WiFi all over the place. I wasn’t able to swim at the beach and try their other activities though. As for the food, it was nothing special.
Tree Top Adventure
After breakfast the following morning, we headed to the Tree Top Adventure at around 9:45 AM. It was a 10-minute drive going there.
When we got there, we were briefed by one of the guides (named Dudz) about the activities available and what to expect. Here’s a shot of the things you can do and their individual rates:
Package rates are also available by the way.
Basically, there are two slow and boring activities (Canopy Ride and Jungle Trekking) for the less adventurous and two extreme activities (Superman Ride and Tree Drop) for those looking for a real adventure.
After harnessing and getting our Olympus Tough 8000 cameras which were placed inside an ice cooler, we were off to our first activity.
Superman Ride

The Superman Ride is just a zip-line traverse 70 feet above the ground and will cover a distance of 134 meters in 15 seconds.

Instead of the traditional zip-line, you will be propped face down in two bars Superman style. You will zip through in reverse the first time around and zip back to the staging platform afterwards so you will be traversing twice.
Canopy Ride
Next up is the relaxing Canopy Ride. You will be travelling across platforms (they call station) riding in a 3-seater lift 100 feet above ground with your guide who will be entertaining you with facts about the area.

Those who don’t want to endure the extreme activities can try this one. The ride takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete but we opted for the abbreviated one (15 minutes).
Jungle Trek
Just a trek around the area. If you’re going to do this, be sure to check out the huge ancient trees with their enormous roots.
Tree Drop
Saving the best for last. This activity is the best for me.

It’s just like a rappel but without a wall from a raised platform 60 feet above ground. You can choose from being dropped seated, or facing the ground (like Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible) or inverted-lizard style.
We did the Mission Impossible drop.

The crew manning the station who will be harnessing and instructing you what to do are funny and will joke around to keep your mind off the drop.
It was over in just a few seconds so I decided to go back for another shot. This time I tried the inverted-lizard style which made my blood go to my head the entire time.

It’s much trickier to get the proper hand position in this style because you will be the one controlling your descent. Fun!
That’s it for the Tree Top Adventure. We had lunch at the main deck before we went to Ocean Adventure which is covered in the next post.

Nice adventure trip! I think I need a vacation from work soon and try this too.
ang saya naman…lalo na ang tree drop
calvin: oo… naiinggit nga si tia eh. hehe.
Cool man! Magkano nagastos nyo in that trip?
unfortunately, (well it’s unfortunate kasi hindi ko masagot) it was an all-expense paid trip. hehehe. check the sites to get a rough estimate. siguro around close to 1k sa treetop, 2400 sa dolphins. then add ka na lang for gas, toll, food and place to stay ninyo.
