Philippines ranked 55 in 2009 Prosperity Index
The 2009 Legatum Prosperity Index was published earlier this week ranking 104 countries in terms of economic growth with the level of personal freedoms and democracy in a country as well as measures of happiness and quality of life.
And our country? Philippines ranked near the median at 55 with weak scores in Health, Safety & Security and Social Capital. We had a very nice score when it comes to Personal Freedom though. But I can’t believe that India is ranked higher than us at 45.
So what is the most prosperous country to live on? The Nordic nation Finland.
What’s with Nordic nations anyway? Except for Switzerland ranking at number 2, Nordic nations make up the top 5 countries with Sweden at 3, Denmark at 4 and Norway at number 5.
We all know that US is not what it used to be but it is still in the top 10 at number 9. Australia and Canada is at 6 and 7 respectively.
What about Asian countries?
The highest ranking Asian country is Japan at number 16, followed by Hong Kong at 18 and Singapore at the 23rd spot. China is at number 75 failing miserably in the Personal Freedom aspect. Hehehe.
So if you’re planning to migrate, aim for the top 10 countries. =)

Kaya ang sabi nila happiest place to be in is Finland, Denmark, and all those scandinavian countries. Pano ba naman hindi happy don, eh lahat bayad ng government: Education, healthcare, allowance for children and non-employed, housing. Ang laki pa ng sweldo nila Also heard from our Danish friends that in college, you get paid to travel to another country for a year.
So ano ang catch? Malaki ang tax, but paying tax is nothing to them because they get a lot in return from the government.
Di ko matake talo tayo ng India?!?!
