Avatar gets my vote for best movie of the year
James Cameron’s Avatar is arguably hands-down the best movie of 2009 for me. The hype it’s been getting is clearly justified after watching the movie in 3D which I also suggest you do.
The movie reminds of me when I first seen Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter. Experiencing a different world richly driven by CGI with immense details and stunning vividness is a feast for the senses. What makes Avatar more special is that it is not based on a book so you don’t know what to expect (unless you’re seeing it for the nth time).
The screenplay was written by Mr. James Cameron himself in 1999 but the technology at that time is not yet in par with Cameron’s vision.

Props to those who helped him develop the rich world of Pandora. From the big flying reptiles to the small dandelion-like jellyfishes. From the motion-sensitive algaes to the incredible flying islands. I had quite a number of “Wowww… Amazing..” moments while watching the film.
Cameron even hired a linguist (Paul Frommer) to create a new language from scratch for the Na’vi race.

I won’t give any synopsis but the story is pretty simple yet entertaining that it will also be enjoyable for non-scifi fans. The more than 2.5 hours of runtime won’t feel too long as it builds the world of Pandora, the main characters and the Na’vi race.
“James Cameron set out to do a lot of very difficult things and to do them all correctly. It took him and his many collaborators a long time and a lot of money, but how many filmmakers could have done it at all? The King of the World has been re-elected.” – Roger Ebert
I don’t care much about the acting done here because it’s quite easy to get lost in the world of Pandora. If there’s one thing I could gripe on, it’s that Michelle Rodriguez doesn’t look as hot as she did in SWAT.
Verdict: 5 out of 5 stars. Watch it in 3D! I’m sure the box DVD of this film will be a collector’s item.

napanood ko na! in 3d. We both liked it. 3AM screening yung pinanood namin. 7 am na kami nakauwi. Buti na lang maganda. Kundi nakatulog kami sa sinehan. Tuloy, tulog kami buong araw ng New Year’s Day.
I definitely had a lot of wow moments in this movie. I thought things like the floating mountains and the crazy-looking creatures were just amazing! It had some of the best graphics that I have seen in movie. Anyways, I just finished watching Avatar on DISH Online and it is was better than the first time I saw it! As a customer and employee of DISH Network, I have had a lot of time to play with DISH Online and I love it. To be able to watch all sorts of movies and TV shows when I want is so cool. Normally there are quite a few shows that I can see on DISH Online, but just for being a customer of DISH Network, I have access to thousands more shows and movies whenever I want! I love this site! I encourage anyone and everyone, whether you are a DISH Network customer or not, to take a look at dishonline.com and see what it has for you!
