Calvin’s Travels for 2009
I love to travel. Who doesn’t if your wife takes care of itineraries, bookings, reservations, luggage, etc.? Hehehe, I love my wife and we both love to travel. Before this year ends, I would like to post and share the trips we’ve taken in 2009.
Bohol – February
Every year, our first trip takes place in February and this year our destination was Bohol. In Bohol, we did the customary Chocolate Hills tour then spend a few days in the beautiful beach of Panglao Island.

What I enjoyed in this trip is the snorkeling at the marine sanctuary on Balicasag Island. It was really a breathtaking experience. Lounging at the peaceful beach of Dumaluan while sipping cheap but yummy mango shake is truly a nice way to relax.
Cebu – April
Not really Cebu per se but in our family vacation place at the northern tip of Cebu. Kawit, Medellin to be exact. It’s been more than 15 years since I went there.

When every beach place is crowded due to summer vacations and Holy Week, we get to spend more than a week having the beach on our own (and some locals of course). It was pleasant to return to the place where I used to go on vacation when I was a kid. And yes we did ate lechon and I want to go back again next year!
Boracay – June
I miscalculated the timing of our Boracay trip here. I thought due to climate change summer season would be extending in June like last year when we went to Puerto Galera. It was not the case this year.

It would’ve been nice if there was sun. If the shore was not full of debris. If it wasn’t raining so hard. If I hadn’t broken our camera in the middle of our stay. Hehehe, what a disaster. Boracay, I’ll be back!
Pagudpud – July
When our good friend at Punta Azul, Dion and Belma, invited us to stay at their resort in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, we jumped at the opportunity, My wife “the bargain ticket hunter” found cheap flights for July so off we went.
There was a typhoon at that time but that made our stay even more relaxing. Nothing to worry about at all. We didn’t get to swim much but we were able to go to the Bangui Windmills. It was still an enjoyable vacation despite the rain. I guess partly it’s because we didn’t spend much.
December – Beijing, China
It was a long wait after our last trip of the year because it’s going to be grand. A nine-day vacation in Beijing will really drain your pocket. Good thing my sister who worked there took care of some expenses including our lodging. Thanks Clo!

It was the most anticipated trip of the year for us and we made the most out of it despite being winter. China did not disappoint and our Pinoy friends there were really accommodating. First time we were able to step in snow too. Hehehe.
I say not bad at all. Five trips in a year. It was truly a blessed year for us in terms of travel. Thank you God! Actually, I didn’t include the mini-adventure I took at Subic courtesy of Olympus which was also a blast. And also the short trip to Leyte for my wife’s family reunion.
I wonder if we can match the number of trips in 2010. Already in the burner is Cagayan de Oro for February next year.
How about you? What are the places you travelled to in 2009?
