How to read comics on your iPod Touch

One of the neat things an iPod Touch can do is be a pocket reader. I already posted a guide on how to read eBooks or PDF’s and this time, I’m going to tackle on the world of comics.

ComicReaderProblem with reading comics on the iPod Touch is that you have to do a lot of zooming in and out just to read the speech bubbles. Fortunately, an app called ComicReader Mobi has solved that.

Just tap on a portion of the comic and it will zoom in only that part for easy reading. It’s like having a magnifying glass on your fingertip.

I tried other comic reader apps and this one is probably the best I’ve seen. It can support .cbr, .cbz, .pdf, and .zip. As common in most apps, it can’t handle large files very well (around 20MB and up) but it’s perfect for mangas.

How to put your comics on your iPod Touch

Uploading comics in ComicReader requires an FTP connection. Your iPod should be on the same wireless network as your PC.

1. Launch ComicReader and click the Preference icon (gear).

4. If you’re not familiar with FTP connections, I suggest using an FTP client like FileZilla. Go ahead and download and install it. It’s light and free. Open FileZilla.

5. On the Quickconnect portion, key in the IP Address ComicReader gave you. Skip the username and password and click the Quickconnect button.

6. Once connected, just drag your file (.cbr, .cbz, .pdf, .zip) on the right pane (Remote Site) of the application. You will see your file transferring at the bottom part.

7. That’s it. Click Stop FTP Server on your iPod Touch to disconnect.

8. Look for your uploaded comic in the library and enjoy!
