We’re joining the Philstar Celebrity Run 2009
For our monthly runs, my wife and I joined the Philstar.com Celebrity Run 2009 on December 20, 2009 at Fort Bonifacio Global City. The original date for the run was October 11 but it was postponed due to Typhoon Ondoy.
We registered at Chris Sports in Glorietta 3 and got our singlet and race number. Yeah, for P350 those are the only things you would get upon registration. Maybe you’re also paying to run with celebrities?

Considering that one of its sponsors is adidas, I was expecting a lot from the singlet. Unfortunately, it’s similar to the poor quality of singlet that we got from Fit n’ Right.
Will we be getting some more stuff? That’s the big question.
We asked the girl who handled our registration if there’s anything else that we will be getting come race day but she doesn’t know. So I e-mailed Philstar and got a reply from one of their marketing people and here’s what she said:
We have discount coupons, magazines, Vitwater, Nutribar, coffee, sport beans, sweat bands/arm bands. All other sponsored items will be given away as prizes. We have 100 raffle loot bags and run winners of around 51.
Yay! So I guess we’d be getting some more stuff on race day. I just hope that distribution will be orderly and efficient unlike what happened at Fit n’ Right.
Anyway, part of the proceeds will be going to GILAS (Gearing up Internet Literacy and Access for Students) so you will also be supporting a nationwide campaign to connect public high schools to the world.
If you’re planning to join, deadline of registration is on Dec. 18, 2009 (fee of Php350) and you can register at:

It seems i’ll be there after all.
See you there!
The Philstar celebrity run sucks!! I joined the 21k run, it was my first time to run this distance, it was supposed to be my 2009 year ender and I expected a lot from the race organizers & sponsors. Well aside from the poor quality singlet, there were no loot bags given to finishers. There wasn’t even a certificate given. During the race, the water stations were so far apart that I thought I wouln’t be able to finish the 21k, to make things worst, once you reach a station (last 5k or so) there would’nt be any water available because the 3,5 & 10k runner have used up all the water. The funny thing is upon crossing the finish line, very exhausted & all, you will have to line up to get a small bottle of vitaminized water, lineup again to get a sponsor’s pen, line up again to get souvenir photos (where you still have to shell out P50.00 despite the fact that the Philstar run ad takes up 1/4 of the space of the picture), line up again to get some peanuts then line up again till you tell yourself that this run really SUCKS! I finished the run with a decent time & was thinking “How about the runners behind me? what are they gonna get? ” It was the worst ever “organized run” I’ve ran!!! Good thing that this run was postponed, can you imagine if it didn’t??!!!???
