Winterhouse in Cartimar for your cheap winter gear
If you’re planning for a trip where it’s really cold (like below 0 degrees cold) you know you have to get hold of winter clothes. Bonnets, parkas, fleece jackets, thermal underwear and stuff like that.
Unfortunately, there’s not a lot of store here in Metro Manila that carries those things. In malls there’s Columbia Sportswear, North Face and maybe Marks & Spencer but their clothes aren’t exactly what you call affordable.

There’s a little known shop called Winterhouse in Cartimar, Pasay City that sells unbranded but affordable and still nicely-made winter clothes. These are not surplus materials, they tailor their products themselves.

To give you an idea on their prices, bonnets and scarves costs around P250 to P350. Gloves is around P500 and thermal underwear goes for P800 to P850 a set. These are winter clothes mind you. Marks & Spencer sells thermal pants for P1250 and thermal shirt for P1000++.
If you’re in a tight budget for your winter gear, do check out Winterhouse. Here’s a map to the place.

Ingat lang kayo sa lugar na yan. Makakamura ka nga pero daming hold-uppers within the area, specially if you are commuting. It’s in the heart of Pasay. Better do your shopping at daytime.
ahh of course daytime ka pumunta. i doubt din kung late nagsasara karamihan ng mga shops doon. lapit lang kami sa cartimar and everytime napapadpad ako doon ok naman. havent been there at night though. late na siguro 6 pm.
Hindi ba 2ndhand dyan?
hindi ata eh. mukha lang.
Do they give out Official Receipts (like yung hindi sulat kamay lang at walang TIN, haha)? I need it for reimbursement eh.
I’m not sure John maybe they do if you ask for it. They’ve been in the business for past a decade already I think.
Hi Calvin! Your blog really helps me with many different facts I learn and make use everyday. I’ll be going this January 15 somewhere with extreme coldness, and it’s my 1st time. Please give me some tips on how to deal with the coldness… If stuffs in this store in Cartimar is worth buying? or those expensive jackets by columbia, springfield, et. al. is what needs to be bought? also with regards to shoes, i saw your comment regarding the rockport shoe not doing that well on snow, what should i buy then? thanks and Godbless alweiz
i haven’t bought sa winterhouse pero my friends told me na ok naman yung mga stuff nila. pwede daw talaga pang-snow. pero if you don’t mind buying expensive gears sulit din naman. the bugaboo parka in columbia sobrang ok sya for upper body. the beanie din from columbia despite being thin and light di naman nalamigan head ko. yung gloves ng columbia hindi effective although i think sanayan lang talaga sa kamay coz i tried different gloves in china to no effect.
as for the shoe yeah hindi kaya ng rockport ko yung snow. you really need winter shoes (like yung columbia bugabutte ng wife ko) if you’re spending a lot of time sa snow. unfortunately, wala akong nakitang winter shoes sa columbia. try mo north face and their winter boots.
Oh yeah if you’re like me na mabilis magkasipon pagtinamaan ng malamig na hangin ang face, you might want to buy a cloth mask or even just a scarf to cover your nose/mouth. mahirap yung punas ka ng punas ng sipon tapos nakagloves. hehehe.
thanks… well appreciated for the up to date reply… will check the stores (Northface, Columbia) on the weekends…will take serious considerations on your remarks. God Bless
do they sell winter boots? we’ll be flying to beijing this sunday. i know that stuff in beijing are very expensive.
i didn’t see any winter boots there. only clothes. sad to say the only place you can buy winter shoes/boots is in north face and columbia pero hindi rin talaga pang-winter.
i would suggest wearing thick socks muna and warm shoes. pagdating mo sa beijing buy your boots there. dun sa market daming counterfeit winter shoes/boots na pagpipilian and di naman ganun ka-mahal. presyong greenhills.
thanks sir calvin!! i looovvee your blog site. too bad, i lost track of my username here in blogspot.
thanks din! gawa ka ng blog ulit. bagong taon, bagong blog.
Thank you so much for sharing this info. I’ll be going to Korea next week. This is very helpful coz I want to buy some thermal clothing before I leave.
