hi chona! Good luck on your Datong trip. It’s worth it because not a lot of people go there yet the place is really awesome especially the giant buddha carvings on the side of the mountain. you will be amazed!

hi Calvin, this is really helpful. I’ll be touring Beijing on December 8-12, 2012 and will be doing it alone, i hope id be able to squeeze in all the places you’ve been to including Datong during my short stay in Beijing.

it’s final, i’d have to reach Datong. hehe.

hi calvin, do they require visa for pinoys? or you can just go to beijing like how you go to macau, singapore and hongkong?

Silk market shopping seems to be a great adventurous experience for most travelers, especially when you try to lower the prices with the salesgirls.

So shopping is always a must-do activities when traveling in Beijing, and if you really want things cheaper, bargaining is a must.

I’ve been to Tianyi.. it’s far if you’re staying on the east side of town. There are cheap prices but there are also prices that are similar to malls. I was a bit disappointed with the price of goods there.
