miCoach Pacer Review Part 2: miCoach Web

If the miCoach Pacer is the brain of this whole fitness contraption controlling the Stride Sensor and Heart Monitor, then the miCoach website is the mind behind it.

Just like the NikeRunning site, the miCoach website is where you plan and schedule your workouts and submit your Pacer data.

miCoach Web

The very intuitive miCoach Web is comprehensive when it comes to training in the sense that workout plans are more detailed and well-thought of. Just like how a real fitness coach will create a plan for you (I think).

I was hoping that there will be an offline desktop app to view and change your workout plan but I guess adidas doesn’t want you to worry about losing your data in case of hardware failure. At least there will be no issues of handling multiple instances of your workout data.

Training Plans

Training Plans

I love the preset training plans of miCoach. You can choose whether you want to train for a race, lose weight or just de-stress among others plans. These plans heavily rely on the heart rate monitor to gauge the intensity of your pace.

Current ability

Once you select your plan, you can then choose what level you want to start on. miCoach has an easy to understand information on how you will know at what level of intensity your workout should start.

Daily workout summary

You can check out the defined workout list per level so you would know what you’re getting into. Each day on the list will have a workout that will guide you through the zones (blue, green, yellow, red) and the duration.

Personalizing your schedule

Once you select your workout plan, you can still personalize it. miCoach has a recommended schedule but you can tweak it to your liking. You can change the frequency of your workout per week or even set a target date to finish your plan (in case you’re aiming for a race date).

Schedule

Calendar view of schedule

If you’re done choosing your plan, you can review your schedule in a calendar view. You can still move the workout days around in case you are not available on a certain date or you can add custom workouts in-between days if you like.

Custom Workouts

Custom Workout

There are other workout plans you can use if you don’t want a scheduled one. Create custom workouts based on time, distance, intervals, stride rate, etc. and set them as favorites. You can then access these workouts from your miCoach Pacer for unscheduled workouts.

There are also assessment workouts as well to make sure that miCoach is truly personalized for you giving you accurate results and recommendations.

miCoach Manager

When you’re done setting up your workout plan, it’s time to sync it to your miCoach Pacer. You need to download the miCoach manager to do this and you also need to be connected to the internet.

micoachmanager

Once synced, miCoach Pacer can give you real-time audible coaching during your workout based on your training plan. You don’t have to sync your Pacer after each workout unless you made some changes as it can hold up to 10 hours of workouts.

Before you can actually start using the miCoach, it is very important that you at least sign up to sync your device with your account.

Pretty impressive huh?

On my next posts it’s time to put these things into application. I will put the miCoach Pacer into a test run and perform different types of workouts as much as I can.
