Now that the application process for The Amazing Race Asia Season 4 is underway, I wonder if there are local celebrities who would be joining. For the past three seasons, we are represented by celebrities and I wouldn’t be surprised if there will be another Pinoy celebrity duo for season 4.

Season 1 of TARA was not good for the Philippines. Season 2’s team-up of Marc and Rovilson seemed formidable but they only managed to come in 3rd. Meanwhile, season 3’s Geoff and Tisha surprised us with a 2nd place finish.

If there are will be another celebrity duo joining TARA 4, who do you think would fare well in the competition? Here are my top 5 choices.

1. Kiko Rustia and Doc Ferds Recio

If you don’t know who these two are, they are the current hosts for GMA’s Born to be Wild segment. I’ve met Survivor man Kiko in Subic and he’s quite a standup guy. Kiko and Doc have great chemistry onscreen and off-screen and both are used to traveling and roughing it up. Both are in great shape and seemed to be determined yet cool-headed which is an advantage in TARA.

2. Drew Arellano and Iya Villania

I’m not too keen on a boy-girl team-up unless both are related by blood but I think celebrity couple Drew and Iya can do well in the show. Drew is the host of QTV’s Balikbayan and has done a fair amount of traveling. His girlfriend Iya, well everybody knows her but I’m not sold onto her as a TARA contestant especially when it comes to sleeping at the airport or at a train station. But who knows? Maybe she can use her charm to the team’s advantage.

3. Reema Chanco and Lia Cruz

These sporty girl-duo might do well in TARA. Ok I don’t know how sporty Lia can be but she’s one of the host for BTV so I’m just assuming here ok? I do know however, that Reema is one competitive and athletic girl. Reema was also part of the Solar Sports family before. So why will the team-up work? I don’t know actually. I just thought they may be close friends being Ateneans and co-hosts for BTV at one point. I really think Reema will fit in TARA, I just don’t know who to partner up with her.

4. Andi9 and Jessica

Hmm honestly, I don’t listen to the radio that much but somebody told me that these two would fit the mold of a successful TARA team-up. Andi9 and Jessica are both disc jockeys for Magic 89.9 FM. They even have their own show on air and these two cooky girls are very likeable and fun to watch if they ever join TARA.

5. Jason Gainza and Franzen Fajardo

Before you say what the? Hear me out first ok? These two guys have known each other since the first season of Pinoy Big Brother back in 2005 and up to now, they remain close friends. They sometimes host the travel show Trip na Trip together and are pretty game in all activities on the show. They are funny and would probably tackle any task without hesitation. The only thing they probably need to work on is navigating and getting to foreign countries.

Well that’s it. But whoever will represent our country for TARA 4, I will support 100%. I don’t care if they are celebrities or not as long as they’re not like Henry and Terri of Season 2 though. Hehehe.
