All set for Globe Run for Home 2010

We’re all set for this Sunday’s Globe Run for Home 2010… I think. This race is one of the most highly anticipated one of the year because it’s the first time a big race will use the streets of Ayala, Makati.Globe Run for Home 2010 even managed to run out of race kits and singlets a month before race day. Good thing we were among the last few who were able to receive complete kits. I heard there are some people wanting to buy race kits from other participants.

The Singlet

I love the material on the singlet which is very soft, light and comfy. Part of the singlet is made up of recycled plastic so thumbs up to the organizers. Didn’t like the design and size though.

A lot of people are complaining about the tight fit and the big armholes of the singlet. I would probably be wear it to bed instead and just use a different top for the race.

Live Facebook Updates

This is the first race here in the Philippines that will be incorporating a live Facebook status updates via its RFID chip. You will tie the ChampionChip transmitter on your laces which will send updates as you step on each marker along the race.

ChampionChip

To make it work with your Facebook account, you need to install the Facebook Run for Home Live Update application. Of course your Facebook e-mail should be the same that you put in your registration.

Here’s a thought to ponder, what if the encoder mistyped your e-mail or Facebook ID? There should be a way for you to test if your chip and Facebook are communicating. I’m sure a lot of people will be miffed about this after the race.

Change of Routes

Reminder to runners, there was a sudden change of routes. Please check the new route for your distance here. There’s also a small change in Gun Start Times by the way.

Here’s the new 5km route which I think is easier to memorize and we won’t be running along smoggy EDSA.

We’ll be running the 5km distance again by the way. Hope I can achieve a personal record on this one. Good luck to all the runners and organizers.
