American Idol 9 Top 8 Females Recap and Prediction
And the girls are now down to 8. Still leading the pack among the girls for me is Crystal and Siobhan and I’m always in the lookout on how they will perform week after week. Let’s see if they can sustain their strong showing tonight.
On to the top 8 girls of American Idol.
Katie Stevens – Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson

Her nervousness was apparent in those low notes and didn’t show much energy into the song. Really hard for her if people keeps comparing it to Kelly. Randy wasn’t impressed and says it was almost like karaoke. Simon gave her props for trying though.
Siobhan Magnus – House of the Rising Sun by The Animals

Amazing! Absolutely loved it! The a cappella at the start was good and it was consistent all throughout. Kara loved it. Only Simon wasn’t a fan and I don’t know what’s his problem with the performance. Says it was a bit weird.
Lacey Brown – The Story by Brandi Carlisle

I’m kinda like her voice although it’s not as good as the other girls. Needs more practice. Performance wasn’t that good but it was ok. Ellen and Randy says it was her best performance and Kara says her singing was effortless.
Katelyn Epperly – I Feel the Earth Move by Carole King

Hmm, it was ok although a bit plain and the judges weren’t digging it. Randy didn’t feel the right connection and vibe. Simon says it was like request night in a restaurant.
Didi Benami – Rhiannon by Fleetwood Mac

I’m not really a Fleetwood fan but I liked this performance. She really sounded like a better Megan Joy. The judges loved it. It was Kara’s favorite moments of the show this season. Go Didi!!
Paige Miles – Smile by Charlie Chaplin

Yikes! A smile song that sounded melancholic. Her voice was quivering all over the place. Randy says it didn’t work. Simon says it might be the end of the road for her and I couldn’t agree more.
Crystal Bowersox – Give Me One Reason by Tracy Chapman

Go Crystal!! She sounded like a pro already while playing her guitar. Ellen says it was the best performance of the night. Kara liked her song choice. Simon says she already got the confidence.
Lilly Scott – I Fall To Pieces by Patsy Cline

It’s really hard to close the show while following a strong performance by Crystal. I think Lilly’s still safe though. Kara says she made Patsy Cline feel current and Simon commended her for being brave choosing that song.
Prediction
No doubt the best performance of the night were from my top girls, Crystal and Siobhan. A close third goes to Didi or Lilly.
Weakest tonight is Paige Miles, the only remaining female diva in the group. She’s followed by Katie Stevens who sounded like she’s not yet ready for this. Lacey Brown is still consistently among the bottom group for the girls but I think she’s slowly improving. Paige and Katie are my vote to be booted out this week.
