American Idol 9 Top 8 Males Recap and Prediction
Most of the girls did well yesterday so expectations are high for the boys tonight. All eyes would probably be on Andrew Garcia who has yet to impress the judges since his Straight Up performance during Hollywood Week.
Here are the top 8 guys and their performances.
Lee Dewyze – Fireflies by Owl City

It was an ok performance for me to start the night. Nice song. Simon was actually impressed with his version of Fireflies and so was Randy.
Alex Lambert - Trouble by Ray LaMontagne

I’m not familiar with the song and he sounds a little bit like Lee. Hehe. Anyway, Ellen made some funny comment about him being like a mushy banana that is ripening so fast. Another safe performance for the boys.
Tim Urban – Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley

Wow! That’s what I’m talking about. The song really fits Tim and Simon says he was very, very smart with it. Kara thinks it was an honest interpretation of the song.
Andrew Garcia – Genie In A Bottle by Christina Aguilera

When I learned that he was singing Genie in a Bottle I thought it was going to be like David Cook’s Always Be My Baby moment. Sad to say it’s not although I would like to hear the studio version of this one. Randy says it was a risk and it wasn’t bad. Simon thinks it was a bit desperate. I have to commend Andrew for choosing the song.
Casey James – You’ll Think of Me by Keith Urban

Sounds like your typical Casey. Can’t say anything wrong about his performance although it wasn’t that amazing either. Randy says it was safe and Kara’s back on the Casey train after that one.
Aaron Kelly – I’m Already There by Lonestar

The lows were a bit shakey but overall it was really nice. Very good song choice for Aaron. Ellen loves him although she thinks the song was a bit too much for him.
Todrick Hall – Somebody to Love by Queen
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Not bad at all for the one who I think is the weakest among the remaining guys. Ellen says it sounded like a gospel song. Simon says him being a Broadway singer might save him after that performance.
Michael Lynche – This Woman’s Work by Maxwell
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Wow. What a nice way to close the show. Didn’t know Michael can do those falsettos. Randy says it was unbelievable. It was one of Ellen’s favorite and she says he’s the one to beat at the moment. Kara who kinda related to the song cried after Michael’s performance.
Prediction
The guys sounded really good tonight. Everybody did well that it’s hard to know who will be going home tomorrow. Best performance of the night goes to Michael Lynche closely followed by Tim Urban.

Probably the weakest performance is Andrew’s but he’s not yet going home… I think and I hope. If I’m to guess who will be booted next, it will probably be Todrick Hall and Alex Lambert. What do you think?

If Alex or Lee go I will not wach AI ever again!! That’s all I have to say! They both are the best in the competition so far.
OMG!!!! Fantastic version of Fireflies!
I agree!!!
more like todrick and casey leaving. though the top 8 guys all did great compared to the ladies. i dont think alex is going, he’s been consistent for 3 straight weeks. and by the way, it was kara who cried at mike’s performance, not ellen.:)
you’re right. I don’t know why I wrote ellen. thanks for catching that. yeah after seeing his previous performances i have to retract my prediction about alex. I’m thinking it’ll be aaron.
I really can’t get over Lee’s FIREFLIES…. I am very thankful that you have this streaming mp3… Youtube is blocked in our office and your site is my main source of info about AI. .. THANKS!!!
I’m having a problem reading your post – the post isn’t being displayed properly. Might be my browser (I’m still running firefox 2), but I thought I’d let you know anyhow
