Cagayan de Oro Trip for Two Part 1: The Plan
Cagayan De Oro City is the provincial capital of Misamis Oriental located in Northern Mindanao. Aside from being the City of Golden Friendship, it is also known as the Rafting Capital of the Philippines and offers a lot of other adventures aside from whitewater rafting.

Tricky for Two
Before I go into what our plan for the trip was, I have to point out that this is one of our destinations where it’s a bit of a disadvantage for only two travelers. Traveling in a group will be more cost-effective and easier to plan compared to if there’s only the two of you.
One example, rafting operators require a minimum of six people before proceeding. CDO is really a group thing. I’m not saying that it’s hard, just tricky but it will be quite an adventure. I’m going to show you how we did it in this series.
The Plan
Here’s our plan for our 4-days 3-nights trip:
- Day 1: Whitewater rafting in the afternoon (1PM – 5PM)
- Day 2: Go to Dahilayan, Bukidnon for the longest zipline in Asia
- Day 3: Camiguin Tour
- Day 4: White Beach in Camiguin before heading back to CDO
This itinerary is a bit hectic for a 4-day trip that we really didn’t have much time to relax and enjoy the city. We always had to go to bed early to wake up real early.
Other Things You Can Do
If you have a lot of time in your hand, you might want to squeeze in these activities as well:
- Caving at Macahambus
- Kayaking at the Cagayan river rapids
- Whitewater Tubing
- Do the Mapawa River Trek
- Visit Eco Tourism Village
Cagayan de Oro is not really known for its beaches. It is a place where adrenaline junkies can really enjoy the thrill of the adventure and each other’s company.

For our trip, we brought along our Olympus 1050SW for water adventure shots and our Panasonic Lumix ZS1 for landscapes and sceneries.
