Cagayan de Oro Trip for Two Part 5: Zipzone at Dahilayan

Instead of renting a van, we commuted going to Dahilayan Adventure Park. Click here to read how we did it.

We arrived at the Dahilayan Adventure Park at around 10:30 AM. Despite the sunny day, the air was cool up in the mountains. There were a lot of kids (students) having some sort of field trip so we immediately went to the counter to pay for our rides.

Dahilayan Adventure Park

Best season to go is definitely summer. The air is still cool instead of being cold and sometimes foggy during rainy season. It’s also better that the road is dusty instead of muddy.

There are 3 zipline rides at the Zipzone in Dahilayan Adventure Park, the 150m and 320m for Php200 and the 840m for Php400. We chose to ride all three for only Php500 per person and were told to wait for our turn.

840-meter zipline

The 840-meter zipline is the longest in Asia and is the main attraction in the place. The ride lasts approximately a minute  you will be 4,700 feet above sea level.

Since the line for the 840-meter zipline was kinda light at that time, we chose to do that first.

Heading further up for the 840m

We rode this jeep along with other people farther up the mountain where the staging area for the 840-meter zipline is. The guide will give some short tips on what to expect and how to ride the zipline.

Gearing up

We wore this Takeshi Castle-looking outfit that served as our pod for the zipline. This is a dual zipline where two people can simultaneously go ride superman-style.

Staging platform up in the mountains

We went up to the staging platform and waited for our turn.

Getting ready for take-off

After wearing our helmet and goggles, it’s time for them to hook us up on the cables. It is important that you secure any loose objects on you including your hair.

And there goes Tia.

High above the treetops

Nearing the end. The rides takes about a minute.

Off we go. I took some pictures during the whole ride while Tia just enjoyed her flight. You can only move your arms. Spread them out to go slow and close them to your sides to go fast.

It was truly an exhilarating ride that you should experience at least once in your life. When finished, you need to walk a short distance back to the main office.

320-meter and 150-meter zipline

The ride for the other two ziplines are connected to each other and is near the main office. It will be 320 meters one way and 150 meters for the return trip. These rides are done sitting with the cable hooked to your waist harness.

320m and the one above is the 840m

It was a longer wait here because there were lots of kids lined up for this ride.

Getting ready for the 320m

Grab a helmet and have yourself harnessed up while waiting for your turn. The guide who will hook you to the zipline will explain to you how to handle the ride. Basically, just hang on and enjoy the ride and the view.

320m ride

150m ride back

On the ride back (150 meter), you will see the obstacle area where the wall-climbing area is located. This is where you will end up and you have to walk back up to the main office at your leisure.

Other things you can do

Most times especially during weekend, you will encounter long queues on the ziplines. Fortunately, there are other activities available at Dahilayan Adventure Park.

Picnic grove

  • Horseback riding
  • Ride the trails with an ATV
  • Picnic lunch at the cool picnic grove
  • Wall-climbing

There’s a garden cafe and Cowboy grill in the area if you’re not into picnicking. I also suggest you bring snacks and drinks in case you have to wait long.

We finished our rides at around 12:30 PM and instead of grabbing lunch there, we thought of doing it back at Camp Phillips. Our habal-habal waited for us during our stay to take us back.

Lunch at the Clubhouse

Back at Camp Phillips, there’s a small eatery at the supermarket. We weren’t feeling the food they were serving so we chose to go to the Clubhouse for our lunch instead.

We didn’t know that the Clubhouse was a good 15 minutes away and the multicab that we rode made a lot of stops along the way while waiting for passengers. It was already 2 PM by the time we reached the Clubhouse so we ordered something quick to prepare, like roast beef.

The Clubhouse is at the golf course of Camp Phillips. Food there ranges from Php180 and up but the servings are huge and good for sharing.

Back to CDO

Going back to CDO, we took a different but much faster, cheaper and convenient route coming from the Clubhouse. What we did was walked towards the road and waited for a multicab to take us to the highway which is about 500 meters away.

From the highway, we waited for about 15 minutes before finding a jeep going back to the city. We hailed it and asked if they will pass by LimKetKai and they do. It was a 1-hour ride and cheaper than the combined rides we took that morning. It even dropped us in front of Pearlmont Inn. Cool!

We arrived in our hotel at around 4PM and just chilled for the rest of the day. The following day we have to wake up early for our trip to Camiguin. That’s next.

TOTAL COST:

Zipline rides – Php500 ea.
Habal habal – Php75 ea. (one-way)
Multicab to Clubhouse – Php10 ea.
Lunch – Php336
Multicab to highway – Php 7 ea.
Jeepney back to CDO – Php30 ea.

    Hi again!

I emailed the contact you posted in your other entry for the package. We’re a group of 8 btw. Just waiting for their reply now.

Anyway, if we dont avail the package, do you think we can finish rafting and ziplining in 1 day only?

ganyan din original plan namin pero medyo alanganin. kelangan perfect yung timing. rafting early morning then matapos by lunch. tapos head to dahilayan mga 2PM is the ideal time para umabot. pero you don’t know rin kasi baka mahaba pila sa hapon. so mag 1-day lang kayo as a last resort. paguran talaga yun sa biyahe.
