3 features that we like about the Sony Cybershot W380
So we tried the Sony Cybershot W380 point and shoot camera during our vacation in Cebu and I would say that I’m really impressed. Aside from being small, fast and simple, it takes very nice photos for its class. My wife who’s not into to much tweaking of settings loved using it.
Here are three features of the Sony Cybershot W380 that we enjoyed using.
Very nice macro shots
With it’s f2.4 aperture-range, it takes surprisingly good macro shots. Here are some shots taken in auto mode.
Sweep Panorama
One of the cool features of new Sony digital cameras is the sweep panorama which allows you to easily take panoramic shots and lets you review them on the fly. Click to see the panoramic shot.
Self-timer
Since we usually travel by ourselves, it’s hard to take self-photos without asking other people to take our photos. Sony W380 has a self-timer which will start taking the shot only if it sees one or two faces in the frame.
Cool features from a compact camera right? Oh yeah, it’s important to note that it takes wide angle shots with its 24mm lens. Here are some more pictures we took with the Sony Cybershot W380.
The W380 is the younger brother of the WX1. They have similar features but the WX1 takes better low-light shots with its Exmor lens. Do consider the Sony Cybershot W380 if you’re shopping for a compact, lightweight digital camera that doesn’t require a lot of tweaking to shoot good photos.

yeah it doesn’t have the price of an entry-level digital camera but you have to understand you’re paying premium for a Sony product.
Oooh, interesting digicam! I’m actually looking for a digicam that I can lug with me around. Nestor is too big and I can’t bring him with me especially when I’m out partying.

I was sitting over the computer last night drooling over a promotion video for this camera, it seems freakin’ amazing.
But since you shouldn’t trust a commercial add, I’m really glad I found you post. It does seem as good as I thought, and the pictures look great.

yes it’s a pretty amazing small camera. couldn’t believe the very nice photos it can produce. You can get it’s higher-end equivalent the WX1 if you’re planning on doing a lot of indoor or low-light shots. but for travelling, this compact camera will do.
nice camera. nagpabili ako sa labas nito. p9,500 lng sa oman. im waiting to arrive. i love this camera. im always read other reviews with this digicam. can you insert memory stick and sd card simultaneously?? if i insert sd card not hd , it can record hd video?
i’m not sure about simultaneous MS and SD but I heard about it. I’m not sure that it would work though because i didn’t see any option to choose where to store the photos.
I think it only accepts SDHC not the ordinady SD. and yes it can record hd videos no matter what type of storage you use.
hi! I am actually looking for reviews on this digicam and glad that I’ve come across your site and even showed the photos you took using the camera..all i can utter was WOW! such great great photos. I’ve been thinking of purchasing the new sony TX1 too but I guess this w380 is way better than that touchscreen. Now I’ve decided that I’m sticking to this! Im definitely be buying sooner than I thought. Thanks for the review.
hi fritz, one thing i found out when using indoors in low light, try not to use the zoom in order to get the best output. just move closer to the subject if you can.
